On the road to the northern area, trees passed by at high speed. Annie pressed forehead on the cold window is a reminder that it was all real. Everything was real.

That autumn dream had come true. She had made it to college and she had been living a life that she never thought she could afford. But it came at a price.

'Crumbs!' she said to herself. 'I am tired of getting nothing but crumbs.'
Her mother had disappointed her again and again. Not only had she spent more time with her new boyfriend, but she had sent her away. Her mother was ruthless and had thrown her away like garbage. The feeling itself was disgusting. But the woman had more surprises for her. In 3 months, Annie had never had a phone call with her siblings. The woman had severed their bond.

She was alone. She had no one left. Her lids were heavy. She had overextended herself the day before while healing Lina. It was her first time performing such magic and soon, she wasn't able to keep her lids open again.

Tom and Lina looked at each other through the front mirror in the car and Tom nodded to her. Annie was sleeping and her thoughts were mourning the memories of her lost family. The one she couldn't get back to.

Humans thought that memories were precious. They were the ones that defined their core and grew them for better or worse. They were this ripples that went beyond time and space. Guiding them through life.

It baffled Lina since she had none. Her memories were erased beyond her 16th birthday. Yet somehow some reactions and thoughts were still her own. Whenever she ripped a teenager from their parent's arms to be taken into custody, she felt a twitch in her heart. Deep down she knew it was wrong. Yet her training took over because what was she to gain if went  against the council?

Annie on the other hand was different. Her memories were reshaped like a kaleidoscope.  It was irreversible, but she was going against the odds. Tom had told her that much.

Lina touched Annie's cheek and pronounced an incantation. She couldn't add anything to her dreams or thoughts, but she could witness them. Meanwhile, Tom would be able to hear the descriptions she made through their mind link.

Annie was running in a forest. A big soft hand was tightly holding her close to his chest. She was tiny. She had about 7 years and was wearing a clock and a princess like dress.

Where was she? Lina asked herself.

Growls filled the air, arrows flew. The men did a quick movement with his feet making his own cape and jewelry twirl along. He cut the arrows in half with the sword on his left hand.
