Author's Note:

Hello everyone! I'm truly sorry that it has taken me this long to upload the next chapter (this one!). I wanted to make sure that Kol's character is in character with everything that has led up to this moment.

I don't know if this needs a warning but just in case, this chapter consists of two main scenes. In the last scene, marked by asterisks(***) there's depiction of some characters smoking so, if you don't like reading that or whatever may be the reason, I will provide a summary of the last scene at the end.

I would also like to say thank you for everyone who has decided to taken a chance with this work and have read it. This work was written with interest in exploring Kol's complex lifestyle and so really appreciate that there are people who look forward to reading this. Enjoy^^

Kol's pov

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked incredulously, hand back on the door knob.

"Kol what brings you here at this late hour?" Elijah spoke, a coin dancing on his fingers.

"You know what, it looks like we have company. I'm just going to leave," I say, directing my finger to the door. A hand meets mine as I turn the door knob.

"Kol," Fin starts, ushering me to sit down in an empty seat.

Cautious, I watch their wandering eyes while I take a seat. Clamping my hands together, "What news do we have at this wonderful hour? A tea party I'm assuming since Marcel and Hope aren't here."

"Where have you been Kol?" Elijah questions.

"Out." I reply.

"Where?"

"Outside," I say in a matter-of-fact tone.

"KOL!" Klaus exclaims, obscuring my sight.

Looking past him, I continue, "So what's the theme of the tea party? Are we thinking celebration? Liberation? How about using the colour red and in big writing," using my hands, "Happy Hunting!"

With the exception of Finn shaking his head out of laughter and Rebekah attempting to suppress a smile from slipping, everyone else shows different variations of disbelief and annoyance. Klaus takes the cup with twitching his eye twice.

Fingers on his forehead, Elijah sighs. "Niklaus, Kol, that's enough. We are adults so let's act like one."

"To be precise..." I begin, but, sensing Elijah's intense gaze, I drop it.

"Kol, it has come to our attention that you have a pattern of arriving and leaving out at odd hours, showing up with occasional wounds healed or not, and recently, demolished your room. Care to educate the family?"

"Like you are one to talk," I utter. What family bullshit is this? This isn't family. This is an interrogation.

"I beg your pardon?"

Goddamn vampire senses.

"So what?" I retort.

Staring into my eyes, Elijah said, "It will be in your best interest to tell us so we can help you."

"Why would I?" I respond with disbelief. Where was this coming from? Pity? Fear? Concern? There's no way the recent one is true. No way in hell.

Looking at no one in particular, "Is that all? Then, I'm leaving." Standing up, I hear a sudden thud from behind.

"Kol Mikaelson!" Elijah says in a firm tone, slamming the coin on the side table. The coin etched itself within the desk.

"What do you want?" I yell. "What do you want me to say? That I'm a mad man? If so, you are one to talk Elijah. Don't think you are off the hook because you suppressed your urges and call yourself a gentleman. And you, Klaus, always get what he wants. Not a word of common sense goes through your bloody head. So what if I am a mad man? We all are," I say with a grin. "And what's with that ridiculous question of coming and going at odd hours? We are vampires. I'm a vampire. The bloody clock doesn't apply to us. The only time I'm asleep is if I'm daggered or faint, which if you really think about it, is when I'm knocked out by someone. For the wounds, I forgot. Why? Cause I have matters to tend to? What are they? None of your business and don't spout nonsense about how families share business. You guys are. I'm not." I state, pointing at myself. "Not with that bloody vow of 'Always and Forever'" I air quote. "As for my room," looking at Hayley who is in shock, "I am a mad man."

"Kol that's not what I meant."

"Well your face says otherwise." It was true. Elijah looked like he was bombarded with flour. His facial expression is amusing to say the least. I think the term is Take a Picture, It will last longer.

"Any more comments", I ask, hands stretched out to the air in that stupid pose. From their faces, it's a no. "Good," I state, smiling.

"What do you want, Finn?" I say, dropping the smoked cigarette to the floor, pressing out the fire.

"Can I not check in with my little brother?," Finn began.

"Not when that older brother was actively involved in my death," I reply, gazing at the night sky.

"Will saying sorry help?"

"Did you have to ask?" I ask, smiling.

"Won't hurt to try."

"But it did," I tease back.

"Ouch," Finn expresses, his hand clutching his left. "Is everything really okay?" he asks, with concern.

"Could be worse. You know, I thought you guys would leave me alone." Taking out a cigarette, I light it up and offer it to Finn who takes it. Propping another cigarette in my mouth, I light it up.

"What makes you think that?"

Exhaling, I reply, "Look at me Finn. What isn't wrong with me?"

Finn rolls his eyes. "Oh my, wouldn't you like to know?"

Pushing him, I start. " All my life, I have been the centre of chaos. Hell," turning to lean my back against the edge, "You guys even put me to sleep to try and stop it. So, don't mind my confusion when I find myself occasionally doing things and I see all of you try to have a look. It's odd and quite, an invasion of privacy, which!"-- Putting my index finger up, "--I know is a new concept, but you all need to live a little."

"Have you stopped to consider that maybe they are trying to amend their past actions by being there for you?"

"With the way they are acting? Not a chance." Turning my head to Finn, I say, "You know I still hate you right?"

Laughing, Finn says, "Of course."

"Glad to know we're on the same page."
