V4: Slaughter Camp

Investigation Time

Lill's POV:
I looked around at everyone and then forced myself to look at Will. His body was almost completely hidden under the table, but his hair and part of his head were sticking out from under the table. His head had been split and it looked horrible. I looked up and blood and brain were all over the walls and us. Fiore wasn't in the room, but it's obvious she got the worst of it. When we last saw her, she had been covered in the stuff.
I need to start investigating. I should check out the table.
"Wire around the table legs?"
Drew stood next to me and gently pinched the wire between his fingers. This is weird. It obviously wasn't an accident, but how much was planned?
Drew reached out and grabbed something. A scrap of purple fabric? That looks familiar, but from where? I can't tell.
Dan spoke up all of a sudden.
"Who cares how the table fell? What matters is that someone just died and the killer may kill another person."
I look at him in surprise and Drew slightly elbows me before handing me a scrap of blue fabric. I looked at it before adding it to the pocket with purple fabric. I know this is too soon, but I have to talk to Fiore to see if she knows anything. Before I left, Ashley came in. She must have changed because all her clothes were clean. I walked over to her and lowered my voice.
"Hey Ashley, can you talk to everyone and check out the table for me? I'm going to talk to Fiore and see if anyone's tents have wire"
Ashley nodded and walked over to talk to Dan. I smiled gently before leaving to ask Fiore if she saw o heard anything weird before the table dropped on Will. When I got to the tents, Fiore was sitting in our tent with her arms wrapped around her legs. Ashley must have also gotten her cleaned up because there was nothing in her hair anymore. I took a deep breath before I started asking her about what happened.
"Hey Fiore, this may be too soon, but did you see or hear anything weird before Will...died?"
Sh paused before her eyes wide.
"Actually, I did. I saw Dan messing with something in his pocket just before I heard something release. After I heard something release, Will got crushed and then blood is all I remember."
I smile at her and thank her, mentally adding her account to my evidence. I turned to leave, but she grabbed my wrist.
"Wait. I also heard something yesterday. Jake and Will fighting. I don't know why they were fighting, but they were. And Jake said if Will keeps it up, he'll be the first death."
My eyes widened in surprise as Fiore says this. Jake and Will fighting? Could Jake have killed Will over a stupid fight? You never know with boys, but it doesn't seem like something Jake would do. Although, he IS the Ultimate Drama. So I guess there is a chance he killed Will? I hugged Fiore as I added this new information to my mental note of the clues gathered so far.
I left the tent and went back to the dining hall, this time with Fiore following me. I picked her up an held her close as I opened the door because I heard people yelling. When we entered the room, I saw who was fighting. Jake and Ashley were yelling at each other and Dan looked like he had a block eye. Fiore clung tightly to me, obviously scared. I was too shocked to respond to that. I shook my head and yelled at them.
"Hey! Why are you guys fighting? Stop it!"
Jake glared at me, Ashley glared at him, and Dan was glaring at. Nick? I ignored Dan for the moment and focused on Ashley and Jake. Jake had a bruise on his arm that looked to be the same size as Ashley's hand and Ashley had scratches on her arm.
     "What the hell do you want Lill?"
Ashley immediately looked pissed when Jake said that. She punched him and they were yelling again. Ellie walked over and explained the situation to Fiore and I.
Apparently, after I left, Ashley had asked Jake if he knew why someone might kill Will, and he got very defensive, which led to Ashley asking him if he killed Will. They started fighting and she grabbed his arm and he scratched her wrist to get her hand off him.
        "Oh my god. Ashley, please tell me you didn't spend the entire time fighting Jake."
She looked up an grinned at me.
"Nope! I got evidence. I got Dan's account, Ellie's account, and I found a timer."
I nod before answering her.
"Ok. Can you tell me what evidence Da and Ellie provided?"
Before she could answer, Ellie spoke up.
"I had heard a button getting pressed and then the sounds of a clamp being released right before the table fell."
Dan spoke up next.
"I heard the clamp releasing, but I also heard Nick and Will yelling at each other yesterday and Nick telling Will to go die in a hole."
I add those accounts to my notes as Ashley hands me a timer, a button, and a clamp that she'd gotten from jumping onto the rafters and off the floor. I add those to my pocket. Recalling what Fiore said, I turn to Jake.
"Hey Jake, can you tell me why you were fighting with Will yesterday?"
He glared at me and said, "How about instead of suspecting people who are innocent, you suspect Nick? He's the one who was carrying wire somewhere yesterday."
I add that to my notes and glance at Nick. Fiore looks up and immediately starts freaking out. She must have been trying to block out the traumatic event from earlier. Before I can say anything, Monoderek appears.
He grins at us before saying, "Well, well, well. I think you have enough clues! Follow me to the trial area!"
