Bryan's POV
It was Friday evening. I was meeting her tomorrow, whoever she might be. I was a nervous wreck, wondering who she might be and how she might act and all.
"You'll end up being like your father won't you?" I turned to face the source of the voice. It was my mom, standing at the door in her usual ghostly, elegant manner. I should have been wondering when she entered the room, but I was used to her appearing at places unexpectedly so I didn't bother wondering.
"What does that mean?"
She ignored my question and walked towards my bed dropping a shoe box as well as a suit package on it. "This is what you will be wearing tomorrow," she told me in a blank tone.
"Why do I need to wear a suit? Why is this so formal? Can't she just come home for dinner or do a video call or something? Why did dad have to rent a fast food for the whole evening?"
"I don't know why your dad does what he does. None of this is my business."
"But you're his wife. You are meant to know... and care."
"I'm a wife... just a wife." She walked silently to the bedroom door. "Treat my daughter-in-law well, if you hurt her, I'll kill you. I believe you don't doubt my ability to do that."
With that, she went out of the door and shut it hard.
What the...?! What did she mean when she said I'll end up like my father? What made her say that? And why is she suddenly obsessed with my to-be wife? What sort of psychopath of a mother do I have?
. . .
"No phones on the dining table!" my mom said calmly, looking at her food. I supposed she was indirectly talking to dad, since he was the only one using his phone.
"I'm working. I have a tight schedule. You should be glad that I even came for dinner."
Flora and I exchanged weird looks. It wasn't totally unusual to see mom and dad like this. they always had petty arguments, but which married couple didn't? They weren't really close either, but I just took it as them being crazy and weird.
"Did you deliver Bryan's outfit to him?" my dad questioned. He could have asked me, but then, either way works.
"Of course! I also gave him helpful tips for his big day tomorrow." She let out a smile, that looked genuine and heart-warming, similar to my dad's smile. What a deceptive couple?
I gave a fake smile at her remark. What helpful tip did she give me? Was she calling the threat to kill me a helpful tip? What a devil! -no offense.
. . .
"Who are you texting?" I asked my sister. I had been observing her as she laughed and typed away on her phone. Dinner finished a while ago, and I had come to her room to check up on her. Se didn't notice when I entered though.
"When did you get here?"
"A few minutes ago. I've been watching you smile and type. So... who is the person that's making my sister smile?"
She blushed. "No one really. It's just one of Ini's friends.."
I was shocked. "Inioluwa has friends?"
"Yeah, actually! They are not really friends, more of close bros... I guess. I don't really know but I've seen them talk a couple of times."
"Cool! What's his name?"
