Chapter 24

Bryan's POV

"Like play, like play, school has opened again," I commented. 

It was just 7am in the morning, just a few minutes before the morning's assembly. The class was however scanty with not many students in it. It was not too much of a bother as people don't like coming to school on the first day.

"The holiday that we were saying was long, turned out to be short," Chinonye contributed.

"Me, my own is that Sharon should come to school today. It has been long I've seen her," Peter lamented with a sad look on his face.

"Chai!" Chinonye and I teased.

"Shut up! You guys are just saying that because you saw your GFs during the holiday."

"Aya, sorry," Chinonye pitied pretentiously. 

"No dey tell me sorry," Peter mumbled making us hiss.

"Ehen," Chinonye started whilst looking at me, completely forgetting about Peter.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I think I saw a new boy ooo. He's in the other class."

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm sure. I saw him sitting in SS1a."

"Is he fine?" I asked. Weird question, I now. I just needed to satisfy my curiosities and insecurities.

Chinonye  shot me a disgusted look, rolled his eyes a bit and answered. "Well he's manageable."

"We should go and say hi, then," Peter suggested.

"I thought you were feeling bad and sad just now?" I teased.

He gave me a menacing look and then aced indifferent. "Let's be going, abeg."

As we were about leaving the class, we bumped into a rather distant friend of ours - Belema.

"Hi dude! You've been scarce these days. You barely even talk to us."

It was Chinonye that spoke. Belema just gave him a side glance and continued acting unbothered.

"And you've been following those boys," I added. "Chinonye, what do you call them?"

"Aspiring gangsters!" he replied.

"Exactly! Those boys are not ideal for you, Belema." I was actually surprised at how wise I sounded. Belema, on the other hand, just shrugged again and walked away.

"Weird!" Peter said getting the word right out of my head.

Chinonye intruded, "Where were you when we were talking?"

"I was right here," Peter tried to defend himself. We glared at him.

We entered SS1A and quickly spotted the new guy seated at a desk just beside the wall. However, he was talking to a girl whose physique was vividly familiar... 'Isabelle?! She is in school? And she didn't think of seeing me, of coming to meet me, it's this new boy that she came to see first.

"Hi new guy! Hi Belle!" I greeted as I reached the seat.

Isabelle looked at me, sensing from my look that I wasn't pleased, she explained, " I just came to school a few minutes. And as I was passing this class, I noticed a new face and decided to come and say hi and stuff. You know, give him a run-down of how the school operates."

"How nice of you!" I said sarcastically. She could tell from my tone that I didn't mean what I said so she gave a knowing smile.

I turned to the new boy that Chinonye and Peer have already started talking to. "Hi! I'm Bryan. What's your name?"
