Alicia woke up the next morning with the sun shining brightly in her face. She turned her head to see Daryl sleeping soundly beside her. His arms were locked tightly around her waste.
She smiled, turning in his grasp to look at him. She just stared for a moment, watching as he breathed lightly, a peaceful look on his face.
"You staring?" He grunted after a few minutes.
Alicia grinned, kissing him softly. "No." They laid there in silence for a few moments before Alicia sighed, sitting up. "We've got to get up. Jordan will be hungry pretty soon."
Daryl groaned, sitting up as well. "What time is it?"
Alicia looked at her watch. "Six." She mumbled. "What time does Jordi usually wake up?"
Daryl grinned at the nickname but answered anyway. "Bout eight, she sleeps pretty hard." He nudged his wife's shoulder. "She's like her mom that way."
Alicia just smiled. "I'll make breakfast. What do you want?" She asked sleepily.
Daryl shook his head. "Naw, I'll make it. You rest for a while."
She nodded, leaning over to kiss him. "Thank you. I'm gonna get a shower."
"D'you need help with your arm?" He asked hesitantly.
She looked down at the nub with bandages wrapped all around it. "I've manage for three weeks without you. I'll be fine."
He nodded. "How have you been handling it... y'know with only one arm?"
She chuckled. "It's been hard, but I'm managing. I can still feel it though. Sometimes I try to use it and forget it's gone."
Daryl thought for a minute before turning to look at her. "How did it happen?"
She sighed. "You're gonna think I'm stupid for this."
"Naw I ain't."
"I was with Glenn, Tara, Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene when a bunch of walkers came through. I took it as my chance to go because Abraham would let me and Glenn leave. I shouldn't taken him with me but he was wounded and he would just slow me down. I ran into the woods and two walkers came up from behind. I killed one but the second one got me on the ground and bit me before Aaron could kill it... so he cut off my arm."
Daryl nodded. "You were tryin' to find me?"
"Yeah." Alicia answered. "I had to. If I never saw you and Jordi again..."
He cupped her face with his hand. "I would've found you either way."
She smiled. "I know, but I had to try." She remembered her shoulder. "Oh! And fun little piece of information... I got shot back at the prison. So that's two cute little bullet wound scars now."
Daryl's eyes widened. "You just left that out?"
"Yeah." She nodded. "I kind of forgot about it after I got my arm cut off. But the doctor saw it and he patched it up."
He nodded. "I'm glad you're alright." With a sigh he stood up. "Go get a shower before Jordan wake up. I'll cook us somethin' to eat."
She nodded, standing up as well. As he left the room she trudged over to the dresser, pulling out a clean pair of clothes before walking into the bathroom.
After a quick shower she got out, throwing her hair into a messy bun and clumsily pulling on a band T that she'd managed to keep up with since the beginning and a pair of leggings.
Maybe it wasn't the most practical for the end of the world... but she was exhausted. She smiled as she smelled bacon wafting down the hallway.
Alicia walked into the kitchen to find Daryl standing over the stove, scrambling some eggs in a pan. She wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head on his back.
"Smells good." She mumbled.
"Course it does. I'm makin' it."
Once breakfast was finished it was 7:30 and Alicia decided it was time to wake Jordan up. She walked into the nursery, smiling at her daughter who was already awake, chewing on a small stuffed dog.
"Good morning honey." She grinned, reaching down to scoop her up. It was difficult with only one arm.
Her daughter giggled up at her, happy to be back with her mother. "Are you hungry?"
Alicia brought her back into the kitchen, thanking Daryl who had already made up a bottle for her.
She had tried to breastfeed in the beginning, but with one arm and the shit ton of stress she was under she just couldn't do it. She praised the other moms who could but it just wasn't working for her.
Daryl watched as she sat down in the floor, drawing her knees up close to her chest. She propped Jordan up on her legs, using her only hand to feed her.
"I could've fed her Darlin'." He chuckled.
Alicia shook her head. "You've had her all to yourself for a month. It's my turn."
Daryl laughed. "Yes ma'am."
