Trauma is a deep and lingering pain
It scars the soul
It scars the psyche
It scars the mind and heart
It scars the body and the spirit.

Trauma is a betrayal of trust
It's the inability to feel safe and secure
It's the loss of control and the loss of hope
It's a pain not everyone can understand.

Trauma is a fear of letting go
A fear of letting someone close
A fear of falling and of trusting
A fear of being hurt again

Trauma is a prison, not a home
A prison of the mind
Of the heart
Of the soul
A prison that we carry, and that we struggle to escape.
