Bunny pulled out his boomerang with his one free hand and threw it, watching it make a wide arch around him before falling right back into his hand. He set Jack down on the floor, causing the teen's face to wince in pain. But the pooka had other things to worry about.
Pitch was holding something in his hands that looked like a whip. But Bunny knew it wasn't for the horses.
The whip lashed out at Bunny and he hopped into the air to avoid it.
A Nightmare came dangerously close to Jack who was still unconscious on the ground. Sneaking a glance at him, Bunny could see the Winter Spirit shaking. It worried him that Jack Frost, who literally lived in the cold, was shivering.
Suddenly, Bunny's left arm lit up in pain. Be yelled out and covered the new whip wound.
"Careful," Pitch said. "Don't want to get hurt now, do we?"
"Hurt me all you want!" Bunny yelled, throwing his weapon at the Nightmare King. "Just leave Jack alone."
Pitch avoided the boomerangs with ease while on top of his Nightmare. "I'm afraid the boy has done too much damage for me to just leave him alone," Pitch said. "He's Jack Frost. He makes a mess wherever he goes."
"He does no-"
"What about Easter last year?" Pitch asked with an eyebrow raise. He tried to hit the pooka with the whip again, Bunny avoided it.
"Or the Easter of '68, for that matter?"
"'68 was when he was young," Bunny defended. "And last year...that was hard for all of us. But I don't think he ever meant to really ruin Easter." Of course Bunny was still mad at Jack for being with Pitch the entire time they needed his help. And the fact he was with the Nightmare King just for his memories was unacceptable. The Winter Spirit did ruin that Easter, but he made up for it and learned from his mistake.
What threw Bunny off guard was the way Pitch paused to look at him. "Has Frost even..." He stopped himself. "How much has Jack told you about last year? About his memories? Or Antarctica?"
Bunny looked at Pitch, confused. "What the bloody hell are you talking about?"
Suddenly, Pitch looked amused. "Well then, I guess it's only fair the boy was the one to tell you. Too bad he never will." That's when Pitch formed a sharp sand-made arrow and shot it right at Jack's limp form on the ground. Bunny was unable to stop it when it hit Jack's arm and completely disappeared into him.
Jack seized for just a moment before going deathly still.
"Jack!" Bunny yelled and ran over to him, he yelped when his arm moved but didn't stop. He got on the ground and looked at the Spirit. Bunny knew his face was supposed to be pale, but it shouldn't have been this pale. Without his sweatshirt, Bunny could see the many wounds that were soaking the ground with blood including the black one on his arm.
There was evil laughter behind him and Bunny noticed the attacks had stopped.
"Good luck, cotton tail," Pitch mocked. Then in a whirlwind of black sand swept over the hall and just like that, the boogeyman was gone.
.....
"Exactly vwhat happened?" North asked quietly from the front of the slay.
