"In the long run we get no more than we have been willing to risk giving." - Sheldon Kopp

"Looking for something, love?" A familiar voice echoed behind me.

I should've known it was him. This guy is always stealing my fucking stuff...He's gotta stop.

"Listen, Harry. You can't keep taking-"

My sentence fell apart after I turned around to confront the person whom I thought had taken my sketchbook with a frown, soon realizing that he wasn't Harry. I stood there with my mouth agape as my throat began to dry. A part of me felt guilty for jumping to conclusions and assuming that it was Green Eyes who committed this act of thievery while the rest of me was just shocked. I never thought I'd see him again. And here of all places.

"I'm sorry, but I don't believe I know a Harry..." The man raised his eyebrows in confusion as he stared at me quizzically.

"Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry for yelling," I apologized. "I thought you were someone else. P-Please, let's just forget that ever happened, okay?" I stammered out.

"I don't even know what you're talking about," He happily played along

"Hey, um, it's Connor, right?"

Otherwise known as the guy who never called.

"In the flesh."

"So...what brings you here?" I inquired, trying to maintain the conversation.

"Just going for a walk on campus, and you?" Connor returned the question.

Oh, Jesus. Why does he have to be in college?

"Me?" I squeaked. "Oh, I was just, um, drawing something for Mr. Rivera. I'm doing the art apprenticeship with him here this summer."

"Ah, Mr. Rivera is a spectacular teacher. You'll love him. I'm taking his summer art course this year, so I guess we'll be seeing more of each other," he informed me.

Great.

"So, if you don't mind me asking, what year are you?"

"I'm just starting my Sophomore year."

Seriously? I thought he was much older.

"Oh, that's cool. By the way, are you done with my sketchbook?" I quickly changed the subject.

Connor immediately apologized before handing the sketchbook back to me, "Sorry, I probably shouldn't have taken this. Your drawings are really nice by the way."

"Thanks, but you don't have to say that." I blushed while biting my lip.

"I'm serious," He insisted, "The amount of detail you incorporate into the sketches makes them look surreal and...well, it makes me wish I could do something like that," Connor admitted.

"Hey, with some practice you'll be drawing like a professional in no time," I reassured him with a smile. "Trust me."

"Hmm, I guess it's a good thing I'm taking Mr. Rivera's class then. I get to learn from one of the best."

"Well, speaking of the best, I have to go show him something. I'll see you later, Connor," I told him with a pat on the back before turning to walk away, but a rough hand grabbed my wrist before I could take another step.
