"A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous." — Ingrid Bergman

Harry's POV

The photos from today's shoot were slowly being transferred to my MacBook Pro as I waited patiently, sitting comfortably in my recliner chair. My boss, Louise, asked me to send her the pictures of Ringo Starr so the magazine's editors could choose an image of his to be on the cover of GQ. He's a great man. If anyone deserves recognition for his work, it's definitely him. Men like Ringo are the reason why I love photography so much. Photographing people who have accomplished such great things in their lives is a privilege beyond my comprehension. I'll always be grateful for the position I'm in now, and two years ago I would have been baffled if someone told me I'd be working for one of the biggest magazine companies in England after recovering from my addiction.

I wonder if Gemma and mum would be proud if they could see me now.

I sighed as I craned my neck around to glance at the glowing red numbers on the cable box set below before taking out my phone. I haven't seen or called Lucy in two days. She's been acting differently towards me ever since she saw that photo on my phone, and I don't know what else to do to reassure her that Candice was only a one night stand. I don't even know how she got my number or why she sent me that picture, but I blocked her phone from texting mine.

Leave no strings attached, another thing I learned from my old man.

When I talked to Louis about it, he told me to give her some space, but I can't get the girl out of my head. I need to see her. I clicked to my contacts and scrolled through the short list of names to Lucy's. I had written down her number from the last time I had her phone, but the thought of using it hadn't actually occurred to me until now.

I've got nothing to lose anyway.

Lucy's POV

"I never thought we'd be doing something like this anytime soon. We haven't hung out in forever," Anya said to me as we left the store eating our quarts of ice cream.

"Yeah, well, that's what happens when your best friend gets a boyfriend. They start seeing each other less and less...It's inevitable really."

I sucked the vanilla off my spoon and looked up at the darkening sky. The sky's bed was a canvas, and the color purple was its sheet. Pretty soon the translucent moon will be covered by storm clouds while everyone else is drenched in rain.

"I'm a horrible best friend," I heard her say as we crossed to the next street.

"Anya, don't even say that. You've helped me in more ways than one. In all honesty, I'm happy you have Louis. Now you won't have to worry so much about me," I said to make her smile. I missed my best friend, but she deserved as much happiness as this life could give her.

"I'll always worry about you, Luce. You're like a sister to me."

"Let's just stay up all night watching movies and eating ice cream," I smiled as we approached our apartment building, "It will be just like old times."

"I like that idea very much," Anya giggled while taking out the keys to the door.

I was about to offer to hold the door open for her when I felt my phone vibrate, meaning that I had just received a text. I took it out from my pocket and watched as the message popped up on my screen.

Unknown: Hi Lucy, haven't seen you in awhile. I hope everything is alright. Text me back when you can...Xx  sent at 10:15 pm

I was wondering when he was going to text me. A smile etched its way onto my face while I read the message. I felt really bad for leaving Connor's party the way I did, and I desperately wanted to make it up to him.
