I felt Anya harshly tug down on my arm, snapping me out of my thoughts. By the time I came back to my senses, Harry and Louis were already seated at our table, and my best friend was giving me a worried look.

"Lucy, you look like you've just seen Christian Grey's ghost. What's wrong?" she sighed while crossing her arms.

"N-Nothing...I just—I know our waiter that's all," I muttered low enough for only her to hear.

"Wait a second. Is he the same guy you went to see that night in the park?" Anya raised her eyebrows. I shot her a puzzled expression, trying to figure out how she knew that. My inquiry was soon answered as she leaned in to whisper into my ear. "You dropped your phone when you fell asleep on the couch, and I saw the conversation."

Shït.

I completely forgot that I still had Harry labeled as Connor in my phonebook. I sighed before averting my gaze over to the green eyed boy who was already staring at me and then back to Anya who was waiting for an answer. "Yeah, yeah that was him," I nodded reassuringly, forcing myself to believe the lie.

"I knew it! He's really cute, Lucy. The four of us should totally double date one day," Anya said in approval. "C'mon, let's go to our booth now. Connor's waiting for us to order," She wriggled her eyebrows suggestively, earning a laugh from me as I followed her to our table.

I squeezed in the booth next to Harry and picked up the menu, unsure of what to order. The only vegetarian options visible on the list were the french fries and veggie burger. I decided to get one order of both since I couldn't make up my mind.

"Hey guys. What's everybody getting?" Connor asked, coming back to our booth with a notepad and pen ready to go.

"I'll have the double bacon cheeseburger with curly fries and a coke," Harry said with a hint of dimples in his smile.

"Wow, someone has quite the appetite," The man chuckled while writing down the order, "Who's next?"

"I want exactly what he's having," I heard Louis say before his menu was added to the growing pile on the table.

"Alright. And you milady?" Connor smiled while redirecting his attention toward me.

Something about the way he stared into my eyes caused my heart to flutter. It felt like we were the only two people in the room, and all that mattered was him and his smile, but I wasn't supposed to feel this way—not when I had a guy like Harry by my side.

I chased away those impure thoughts from my mind and cleared my throat with a cough.

"Ehem, sorry about that. I'll have the veggie burger and curly fries with a sprite," I told him while setting my menu down on the table.

"Good choice. The vegetarian foods we have here are of great quality," Connor assured me as he scribbled something on his notepad.

"I think I'll be the judge of that," I said teasingly, biting my bottom lip.

"I'll be sure to come back and ask just for your opinion on the food," He winked at me before looking at Anya. I couldn't help but stifle a giggle.

"I think I want the garden salad and strawberry lemonade," Anya said while handing him her menu. Connor collected the thin booklets that were piling up on the table after jotting down her order.

"Okay, I'll be right back with your drinks, and your meals should be ready shortly. Give me a few minutes," The waiter said before walking off into the kitchen.

"Holy shït, Connor's totally into you, Lucy. Did you see the way he checked you out just then?" My best friend asked me shortly after his departure.

I shrugged, shaking my head. "I don't think he likes me in that way," I answered honestly.

"You're too modest Lucy, but whatever you say," Anya sighed with a smile. I rolled my eyes.

I let out a breath and glanced over at Harry only to see that his body had stiffened and his jaw had clenched in response to Anya's words. A frown tugged down the corners of my lips as I slowly moved my hands from my lap and placed one on Harry's knee underneath the table. His features gradually softened with my touch, but he still seemed pretty tense, and I was sure I knew why.

"Anyway, what were you two doing in the area today? I don't see you around here too often," I questioned the both of them, thinking it was best to change subject for now.

"Well, " Louis began, "Anya wanted me to meet her father today, so I basically spent the whole day getting to know him. Mr. Morrow teaches a physical computing class at Cambridge and suggested some great softwares for me to download on my laptop. He's a real nice fellow," He stated.

"Yeah, daddy absolutely adores Louis," Anya nodded in agreement. "Any who, I still think it was really sweet of you to offer Lucy a ride, Harry. You know, considering the fact that you two despise each other and all..."

"Since when do we despise each other?" Harry scoffed, looking at me confused.

Before I could attempt to respond, Connor returned to our booth with drinks on a tray and handed everyone the beverage they ordered.

"Food should only be a couple of more minutes guys. But don't worry, I promise that the next time you'll see me, I'll be carrying platters of curly fries and cheeseburgers instead of a tray of coca cola," He joked while setting down straws and napkins for our table.

"Thanks, mate," Louis waved off Connor as he went back into the kitchen.

Then all eyes fell back unto me.
