"You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." — Abraham LincolnLucy's POV
Five minutes. That was how long I had before Harry would surely be knocking on the door to my apartment. It was barely enough time for me to adjust the straps on my bra or pull up my leather skirt, but I made those three hundred seconds count.
I lathered my freshly shaven skin in aloe lotion, admiring the glow that radiated off my body. After capping the bottle closed, I came to the conclusion that I was ready to leave and started heading for my bedroom door when something I hadn't noticed before suddenly registered with my mind.
Shoes. Bloody hell. How the fück could I forget that I needed shoes? God, where's your head at tonight, Lucy?
These questions were all rhetorical of course. I already knew the answer. The anticipation for my date with Harry was the cause of my jumbled thoughts, but I couldn't have been more thankful for Friday than I was now. I needed to spend this time with him.
I walked over to my closet while tying the hem of my gray shirt into a knot and slid my feet inside a brown pair of Oxford shoes. My hair looked like a tangled mess in the mirror, so I combed out the knots and swept the loose strands of hair over my shoulder, leaving my room just in time to hear the doorbell ring.
Harry.
The realization of his presence caused my heartbeat to quicken as I headed for the door, carefully twisting the silver handle to reveal a strapping young man with a dimpled smile plastered over his face.
He wore a navy blue buttoned down flannel with the sleeves pushed up all the way to his elbows, and that tousled hair of his was styled in a classic quiff I had grown to love with some curls resting against each side of his face. Harry sported his signature black skinny jeans and brown boots which I admit, looked better than mine. He always managed to steal the air right from my lungs, for his very appearance was breathtaking.
"Wow. You look amazing, love. Are you ready to go?" The green eyed boy asked, making me blush.
I loved the way the word love rolled off his tongue and how he'd slightly bite his lower lip after annunciating the 'v'. Harry made even the simplest gestures seem so sexy.
I was lost for words, but I managed to nod my head and grab my purse before joining him in the hallway and closing the door.
"Shall we?" I smiled sweetly while gesturing toward the stairs.
"Yes we shall," Harry said before placing a gentle kiss to the back of my hand and leading me down the steps.

We endured the duration of the car ride in absolute silence, exchanging a few glances from time to time. This kind of silence wasn't awkward though. It was anything but. I simply felt comfortable enough around Harry to let the air be the only thing to fill the emptiness of the space, and he didn't really seem to mind the peace and quiet.
His focus was primarily on the road as he made a right turn around Allen street, studying the cars ahead of him. I've only ever been in a car with Harry three times and, from what I've seen, he's a cautious driver. The possibility of an accident occurring was the least of my worries.
Harry parked his Audi outside of the gates to the university and across the street from Al's Diner. I had been eyeing that place ever since my interview date at Cambridge but haven't checked it out until now. I flashed Harry a small smile as I unbuckled my seat belt and opened the passenger door, embracing the gust of wind coming my way.
The breeze was just as refreshing as the feeling of Harry's fingers entwined in mine. We were walking in the middle of the street whilst discussing the events that occurred during our day when I spotted two people who looked exactly like Anya and Louis heading in our direction. Like Harry and me, they seemed too deep in conversation to notice anyone else, but I hauled us to a stop once we reached the sidewalk and stood there frozen, eyeing the figures closely.
Holy shït. That is them.
"Lucy, What's wrong? Are you alright, love?" Harry asked, his voice laced with concern. He only became even more worried when I let go of his hand, but he soon understood why.
"Oh my god! See, I was right Louis. This is Harry and Lucy. What are you guys doing here?" I heard the soft voice of a female ask as she approached me and Harry.
Anya and Louis stood together just as a couple should, hand-in-hand, with confusion written all over their faces, and, of course, my lack of words didn't make the situation look any better.
What could I possibly say that would explain why Harry and I were even within a two mile radius of each other? As far as she knew, I really didn't like him.
"I-uh-we...were just um-"
"Lucy wanted to order something from Al's diner to bring back home, but her car was running low on gas so she called me, and I agreed to drive her. We were actually just about to go inside," Harry interrupted me to say.
How was he so good at this—so good at lying? I believed him even though that anecdote was far from the truth.
"Oh, Lou and I were just about to go in there too. We should all grab a table and have dinner together. Wouldn't that be fun?" Anya suggested, wearing a smile that made it hard to say no.
"Yeah, we definitely should. I bet we can find a booth to fit the four of us," I chuckled nervously as I held open the front door of the restaurant.
"I'll get us a table," Louis reassured everyone before going inside. We copied his actions and waited awkwardly by the store window until he returned with our waiter.
"Hello. Welcome to Alexander's diner, Al for short. My name is Connor, and I will be your waiter for the evening. Follow me, so I can show you to your booth," The man briefly stated before turning around. Those gray eyes were too intoxicating, and I found my heart beating faster with each word that left his mouth.
This can't be happening...What are the odds? First, Harry and I running into Anya and Louis, and then Connor being our waiter? It's just too much.
