A single month had passed since Lucius decided to stay to Prescott University and he has yet to choose or seek an Apprentice. He still didn't feel the need or pressure to find one, but unfortunately the Life Court didn't see it that way. Lucius didn't seem to understand why; why did the Life Court even care? They acted as if Grim Reapers were the ones who were going to tip the balance of everything, like the balance wasn't already ruined by their own foolish mistakes and actions.

Cory sent him a few impatient letters that said something along the lines of, 'hurry up,' each letter got slightly for aggravated as it went along. But Lucius continued to take his time before making any decisions. Besides what is the worst that could happen; Cory rarely if ever left the Court of Life and no one there would dare lay a hand on Lucius if they value their immortal living soul.

"So what made you want to come here?" Zaden wondered as he flipped through a textbook. He had asked this question several times throughout the month they had been paired together as roommates but had yet to receive a full answer.

"Hm," asked Lucius as he closely studied each page of his book.

"Did you not like your old college?" He questioned, "If you were going to be a senior why not stay? Why move schools?"

It took a moment for Lucius to answer. He hadn't thought that far in advance; he didn't think anyone would question his 'transfer' to this school. What should he say-what was believable is the real question, "Um," he said contemplating his reply, "I just thought this campus was better than the pervious one." It was a vague answer which left more questions than answers; but it was the only thing he could come up with on such short notice.

"Is it closer to family or..."

"I guess you could say that..." Lucius informed not sure in his wording. Because he was a a Grim Reaper it was hard to say if he even had a family. He never spoke of them or even seemed to talk to them. Even though he had a phone-one that he could barely understand with all of its apps, functions and faces. Zaden had only seen him text a few times; but mainly Lucius called or was called and from what he had heard the conversations ranged from calm and civilized to one sided screaming matches which mainly came from the other side. The roommate unsuccessfully tried to ask why, but was immediately shot down by his friend, "I just prefer it here."

"So..." Zaden said breaking the silence that had formed after a few minutes, "where does your family live then?"

"Uh," Lucius said, "England..." his answer was a cross between a question and guess; his friend gave him a skeptical look but didn't push for a truthful reply. He had tried before and ended up with a vague dismissive yet almost threatening answer.

"Do you have any siblings?" Asked the black haired man, curiosity getting the better of him.

"Some," Lucius admitted, "but I don't keep in touch with all of them." No one could say if Lucius's family was alive or if he even had a family. He kept all of his private life out of the public eye or any eye for that matter. Some thought it was to protect them from threats from the Courts while others insisted Lucius didn't even have a family to start with.

But he had to have a family right? Everyone has one, whether or not they accept them as their family. So who was Lucius's flesh and blood? Maybe only God knows the true answer to that question, and even he refuses to tell.

"Why do you not like each other?" Asked Zaden.

"We have different views on how to live." Summarized Lucius carefully, "I prefer to be free while they...they like to be told what to do." No one in the Courts like Lucius's long endless streak of rebellion; but it wasn't hatred they felt towards him, it was envy. Of course envy was mixed with several other emotions like resentment, impatience, and annoyance.
