Joelle's pov;
*******
I walked along the empty road, inching further, and further away from Alexandria.
it was only about eight in the morning.
you would probably say lucky for me, since that gives me more time to travel in the light, but i prefer to travel in the dark.
There were quite a few walkers out here, but i tried my best to make my way around them, and avoid them.
All i saw for the longest time, was trees, and more trees, and more trees. Who the fuck decided to put this place in the middle of nowhere? Super convenient.
I couldn't help but think about promise, and Carl, and Catherine, and how well everyone is coping. They're probably glad i'm gone. They'll regret their decision at one point.
I buzzed my lips together, keeping my hand on my knife the whole time.
Maybe if a walker came to kill me i would be better off.
I suddenly stopped in my tracks, looking all around me.
I swallowed, then opened my mouth.
"Come get me!" I screamed out, circling around. "Come get me you fucking bitches! I'm right here! Fresh fucking meat!" I was screaming at the top of my lungs, and i stomped on the ground. "Come kill me! Now's your chance!" My voice echoed throughout the forest, my words maneuvering their way in and out of the trees.
I heard leaves crunch, and a loud snarl. I fell backwards when i turned around, trying to push myself away, as the leaves slipped underneath me.
if only promise was here to help me now.
About three walkers stood above me, snarling and making grabby hands at me. They pushed past each other, opening and snapping their jaws as they grew hungrier.
What the fuck was i thinking?
i scrambled back onto my feet, running around the three walkers as they grabbed at my loose clothing.
I made it past them unharmed, running as fast as i could.
By the time i had stopped running, it must have at least been at least mile and a half.
I leaned against a tree, attempting to catch my breath.
I looked up for the first time in a while, seeing a large building in the distance.
I began walking towards it, noticing it was a shopping market.
I pulled my knife out of my holster, where my gun once was; a long time ago.
Once i approached the building, i realized that no one had been here in a long while. There were few walkers, and it didn't look absolutely damaged.
I killed the walkers one by one, watching them drop towards the concrete.
I made my way to the front entrance, beginning to pry the (used to be) automatic doors open.
Once i had them open, i walked inside, holding my knife up.
There were a few walkers immobile on the floor, unable to stand up, due to a lack of legs.
i ignored them, moving past.
i grabbed an empty black backpack that was sitting on the floor by the entrance, inspecting it before deciding to use it.
Making my way down the isles, I threw some things in that seemed useful.
The necessities first, Water, Easy foods, beef jerky. Then came some of my favourite things.
Sweets, Chocolates, and books.
i threw in some candy bars, chuckling to myself as i did so.
I then walked down a few more isles, stopping when i got to the books.
i knew I shouldn't, knowing they would weigh me down. but how couldn't i?
Throwing in some books, i read the backs of some of them.
Once i had all i needed, i left the shop.
Walking down the road, i looked for a place to stay, somewhere that didn't look infested.
I finally found a small house, hidden away by a bunch of trees.
I made my way up the long driveway, walking up the steps of the house.
The door was locked, so i circled the perimeter, looking for a place to enter.
I noticed a window on the second floor was open, and that's when i began climbing.
I climbed up the wooden bars of the halfway-roof, and pushed myself up.
I lifted myself into the window, throwing my bag in first.
Once i jumped inside, that's when i heard a high-pitched scream.
