Promise's pov;

"We only have one choice. And that is to exile Joelle Smith."
i gripped kaia's limp body, trying to put pressure on her wound with my jacket.
tears streamed down her face, and others too.
"No, you can't!" i take my attention off kaia for a second, to look at deanna.
"First, these alcohol shenanigans, now killing a member! We have no choice, promise!"
the tears are now streaming down my cheeks, as the color is drained out of kaia's face.
her body falls limp, her eyes open, her chest unmoving.
"we have to help her." i said quietly, my voice shaky.
"promise..." rick trails off
"No! she can't die! she wont. we... we have to save her."
rick shakes his head, backing away.
the tears continue to fall down my face, dripping onto kaia's cheeks.

i raced back to the house, swinging the door open swiftly, then slamming it behind me.
the group sat at the wooden table, none talking.
it was silent.
"wheres joelle?" i asked, stepping closer to the group.
"she's with deanna." carl says, fidgeting with his thumbs.
i spin on my heel, swinging the door open again, and slammed one last time behind me.
i started running, but stopped in my tracks when i heard a voice call from behind me.
"promise, wait!"
i spun around to see blake jogging after me.
"where are you going?"
"where do you think i'm going? to spy on Deanna and Joelle, of course." i reply smoothly.
"fine. but i'm going with you." he states, crossing his arms.
"no. you stay here." i demand, shaking my head.
"no way." he says, starting to walk towards Deanna's.
i sigh and trail behind him.
******
we crouch down underneath Deanna's window, that was slightly cracked open.
"Now, Joelle. i've had my last straw with you. so tomorrow morning at nine a.m. sharp, you will leave this camp."
"But deanna, you can't kick me out. they're my group. I didn't mean too-" her voice was shaky, and i could tell she was crying.
"Then why did you do it, joelle? why?" Deanna shakes her head.
i could only see the back of joelle's head, but i watched it droop towards the floor.
"That's what i thought. Now get out of my office." Deanna said angrily, as Joelle stood up.
Blake and i jumped behind a bush as Joelle swung the front door open, and rushed away from the house.

Kaia Bonilla died later that night;
