Carls pov;
********
my dad had wanted to introduce me to some other kids, who were supposedly around my age.
i knocked on the door, and a blonde girl answered it.
"hi! you must be carl. im Jessie." the woman outstretched her hand, and i shook it.
"Mikey and Ron are upstairs, they're most likely playing video games. go ahead and see them." she smiled, and i nodded, slowly walking up the stairs.
i saw a boy, at the end of the hall.
"hey. im ron." he said.
"carl." i responded, nodding.
he led me down the hallway, until we stopped at a room, with the door partway open.
there was another boy inside, and a girl with purple hair, sitting on a chair, with her feet up on the bed whilst reading a comic book.
"this is carl. carl, this is Mikey, and Lydia." ron said, motioning to the boy and the girl.
i looked at the girl, and after a minute, she looked up.
she whispered something under her breath, but i couldnt quiet make out what she said.
"uh. lets play some video games I guess." i say, and ron nods.
*******
after about two hours, i left ron and mikeys house.
that lydia girl had left almost as soon as i got there.
i walk down the street, heading back to my house when someone runs up to me.
i turn to see, yet again, the girl with the purple hair, and glasses.
"hey." she said, walking beside me.
"hi." i respond, looking straight ahead.
"wanna go somewhere?"
"oh... um- sure." i respond, nodding reluctantly.
*******
"we're going outside the fence?" i ask, looking up as she climbs up the high, red fence.
"hell yea we are."
"i dont know how my dad would feel-"
"shut up and climb the fence."
I do as i was told, climbing up the fence.
once at the top, i swung my leg over, climbing back down.
i hopped down from about two feet above, landing on the ground with a loud crunch from the leaves below me.
"alright. come with me." she says, and starts to run.
i run also, weaving in between the trees.
she came to a stop, and sat against a log.
"do you like it here?" she asked, looking over at me.
"i dont know. i kinda liked it out there." i reply honestly, looking down.
i look over to her, and we make eye contact.
"so. do you have a girlfriend?" she asks, flashing a smile.
"uh... no." i say, biting my lip.
"perfect."
"huh?"
"nothing."
i hear the familiar sound of walkers growling, and she stands up.
she rushes over to a hollowed out tree, and we step inside.
i pull off my hat, holding it by my side.
i look out as the walkers pass by.
"its their world. we're just living in it." Lydia says quiet, looking up to me.
she reaches up, and lightly kisses me on the cheek, as her eyes flutter shut.
i reach out, and my hand brushes across her finger tips.

I'm sorry.
