They come in twos, deep loves shining
We sit, so hungry, empty souls pining
With you and your allure, me with my glare
It begins, so pure, drawn from their stare
We present quite elegant, a sophisticated ideal
Their love, we sip, savoring our meal
They begin to fail, understandings lost
Our power starts growing, their connection the cost
They argue, at first quiet, then louder and more real
The deepening chasm the more that we steal
Their insults grow harsh as they lay fervent blame
And see the other as culprit, all along just a game
Eyes become fire, words thrown to slice
What once lived so warm, cracking into ice
Plans form, an ending, they will undo their vows
We get younger as they snap, breaking love's boughs
It's over, they exit, each utterly alone
And my love, you and I, another decade sown
Across centuries, we feed, our love so long
We're great and we're happy, we're new and we're strong
A new couple, we see, not too far away
So blind to each other, so unsure if they'll stay
We give a tiny bit, enough to ignite
We've seeded a meal, and then into the night
We soar above roofs, all power and alive
For thousands of tomorrows, we'll soar and we'll thrive
Our love is eternal, our dreams made true
For nothing is worth more than forever with you.
