"I didn't think it would take," Jan said. Panic thrummed through his end of the bond. "I just thought it would appease her instincts."

"You told her to bite you!" Phoenix shouted.

"She asked for it first," Alex grunted out. "I'm just jealous it wasn't me, and so are you, Nix."

"She should have been able to make that decision for herself," Jan said. "Look at her."

I was nestled underneath the blankets, hiding my aching head beneath the pillow. I'd been there all day while they argued around me, huddled by myself. They'd tried to touch me, but I flinched away each time until I was curled up at the edge of the headboard. Phoenix was next to me, and I could feel his urge to protect me thrumming through my bond with him.

There was a second, fainter bond that licked like tobacco smoke through my veins. It was my bond with Jan. The alpha in me was still strong enough that when I'd bitten Jan, I'd bonded him too.

I'd wanted to take, and I had. In the end, I'd taken everything from the Dark Angels.

"Do you think it hurt her?" Phoenix asked.

"What's hurting her is being away from you guys," Alex said. Phoenix growled in answer, shifting ever closer to me, and I let his leg settle against my curved back.

"She wouldn't let me touch her last night either," Jan said.

"I'm gonna fucking kill Jack," Phoenix growled. "Hear that, princess? I'll put him on his knees in front of you and rip out his throat with my teeth for you."

That's how much he wanted to touch me? I reached through the bond, feeling everything he had to offer. The response was overwhelming, and I shoved the blankets down around me and turned myself into Phoenix's side, wrapping my arms around his waist. He didn't dare to move.

Alex adjusted first, crawling up to the bottom of the bed where he petted my legs. I watched him with sudden rapt attention and glee as he set out his rolling tray and started grinding. He winked at me, and my heart fluttered inside. Mate.

Jan shuffled in behind me and started petting softly against my back. "Doesn't that feel so much better, sweetheart?"

I cried with the relief. Their touch edged the pain, filling it with a fire that I didn't know I still had. rubbed at my eyes, but Phoenix took my hands aside and set them in his lap. He wrapped my hand in two of his until I was crying freely in his lap.

"Little omega, I don't know if those are bad tears or good tears," Phoenix forced out. He sounded pained.

I only clutched onto him harder and sobbed.

"You can cry it out," Jan murmured as I trembled. "Big bad Phoenix just wants to fix everything for you."

I let everything out. I cried away the pain and the terror. I cried for my father, cursing him for the man he was and what he had done to me. I cried for Jack, for what he'd suffered and the suffering he had forced on me in return. I cried for my pack, for what they had endured, and all for me. I cried because I was scared. After all, I had found a pack of alphas who I trusted, and I was horrified at the idea of losing them.

When I'd stopped crying and I was limp and shaking in Phoenix's lap, he and Jan helped sit me up in their chests.

"Let's watch The Idol." Alex said. He grinned as he held up a wrapped blunt in an offering. "You were complaining that you never have time outside of missions, so this is the perfect moment. Don't you think, baby?"

I tried to take the blunt and the lighter from Alex's hands. The grin of silent victory across his lips brightened me, but my hands were still shaking. Phoenix took the blunt from me while Jan took the lighter.

"This is what you want, right, princess?" Phoenix said, offering my lips the blunt.

I nodded and parted my lips.

"Good girl." Jan flicked the lighter, and I inhaled.

When I had taken two hits, I turned to Jan and offered him the joint.

"I don't know, sweetheart," Jan said stiffly.

I ushered at him with the burning blunt, staring until finally, he accepted it. He coughed when he exhaled and offered the blunt over to Phoenix, who took it over my head.

Alex laughed, sending a pleasant shiver through my achy bones. "You guys are suckers for our baby girl."

"Don't pretend you're not," Jan said.

"So you don't deny it, then?"

I turned out of Pheonix's arms until I was halfway in his lap and leaning over Jan. I nuzzled Jan's marked throat. His alpha genes were healing up my bite marks nicely. I licked over them, and he shuddered beneath me.

"Baby, please take the blunt before you send poor Jan into a rut," Alex said, and he nudged me with his foot.

"I want to see that," Phoenix said. A purr stood out in his silky tone.

I surfaced only to accept the blunt and take two long drags. I pushed the blunt to Jan's lips and waited for him to inhale, too. When he did, I passed him the blunt and nuzzled back into his throat, satisfied for the moment. The beat of his bond in my heart was becoming dizzy and intoxicating the more I lapped at the wound I'd made on his throat.

"Baby." Alex nudged me again, rousing me from Jan's neck. "Your turn, baby."

I leaned forward, out of Phoenix and Jan's reaching arms, to press a sudden kiss against Alex so hard he was breathless. Before he could react, I took the blunt from him and hit it, blowing the smoke straight into his face before I settled back against Pheonix's chest.

Alex only laughed. "You can blow smoke in my face any time, baby."

We settled into bed together, all four of us squished in the king-sized bed of the penthouse room, while Alex flicked on the TV to Netflix and clicked 'play' on The Idol. I'd been wanting to watch it for weeks, complaining about never getting a chance to myself to do anything. Now that I was in heat, it seemed that I had all the time in the world to do everything, and the only thing I wanted to do was fuck.

Every touch of Pheonix's hand against my leg or Jan's hand in my hair sent a high buzzing through my ears. My skin was too hot, but I was freezing cold. I almost whined when Phoenix dragged his hand up my leg.

"You don't hate me?" I whispered.

"Hate you?" Jan held my hand. He seemed surprised I was speaking. "Why would I hate you, sweetheart?'

"For biting you. I didn't mean to – I know you didn't even want to help me through this heat in the first place." There were tears already in my eyes. My mate didn't want me, and I'd bitten him anyway.

Jan's face was all seriousness for a second, his caramel eyes studying me. His light-tinted mirth hit me in the bond before his lips twitched up into a smile. "Oh, don't you know I've loved you from the moment I set eyes on you, Wren? I was scared of the heat because I was afraid I would bite you more than I was afraid Phoenix would."

Frowning, I traced a hesitant line around the bitemarks on his throat. Then I shook my head, looking fervently at Phoenix and then Alex. "We said we never wanted this, we said –"

"Jack said," Jan growled.

"We agreed we didn't want an omega," Alex explained. "Jack's the one who made up the no-biting rule, not that we thought we could bond with each other when we're all alphas. Guess you're the exception to that, baby girl."

"It was because he wanted to be the one to bite me," I told them. "I don't – I don't want to talk about him."

"What do you want to talk about, sweetheart?" Jan said.

"I don't want to run anymore," I blurted. My hands clenched around Jan's and Pheonix's hands on opposite sides of me.

Alex started up a loud, grunting purr and leaned forward, scenting me. "You want us to be a proper pack? All of us?"

"You know that means?" Phoenix murmured in one ear.

"We all need bites," Jan murmured in my other ear.

I nodded, my whole face blushing rose red.
