"Landon! What the hell are you doing?" I asked Landon.

"N-nothing." He answered in a stuttering tone.

It's not my job to tell Michelle about the pregnancy.

"Hi, Michelle. Spooky night we're having, huh?" I said to Michelle with a smile.

"There's definitely something in the air." Michelle said.

Michelle gives me a polite but firm nod as she walks away. When she's out of sight, Landon lets out a huge sigh of relief.

"Rowan, Alice, takes the kids home." I said to Rowan and Alice.

"What will you give us?" Alice asked to me.

"I'll give you full permission to stay up all night." I said to her.

"And tomorrow night?" She asked to me.

I smiled to her. "Don't press your luck." I said to her.

After the kids walk back home, I'm left with Landon, Mason, and Eli.

"Mason, Eli. I need to speak to Landon alone." I said to them.

"But—" Eli was about to speak another word but I cut him off.

"But nothing. Can you two play nice for ten minutes?" I asked to the two of them.

"Come on, Eli. We should go." Mason said to Eli as the both of them walked away.

Finally, alone, I turn to Landon full of sugar and fury.

"Landon, you still haven't told Michelle." I said to Landon starting the conversation.

"I told you I would." Landon said to me.

"When? At the baby's high school graduation?" I asked to him.

"It's not that easy, Ann."

"It's not? Then make it easy." I said to him.

"How?" Landon asked.

"I don't know. Read a book and figure it out." I said to him.

"Ann, I had a life before I met you." Landon said as his eyes darken with pain. "I'm going to take a walk and try to forget this." Landon said.

My heart sinks as Landon walks away.

"It's not my fault you're an embarrassment." I heard Eli's voice.

When I turn around, I see Mason and Eli standing toe to toe.

"How could you provide for a baby when you spend your days hiding away in a nurse's station?" Eli said to Mason.

"You're just a bully, Eli." Mason said.

"I'm not a bully. I'm a realist." Eli said to Mason.

Great, these two are fighting.

"Guys, cool this down." I said to the two of them.

"I am cool." Eli said in a stern tone.

"No, Eli. You're cold. An absolute ice king." Mason said to Eli.

"Mason, you need a real job." Eli said.

"Can you explain how my job at the school is less than yours?" Mason asked to Eli.

"Because I'm your boss!" Eli smirks saying.

"Well, then it's a good thing we're off the clock." Mason said.
