"Hey Lucy, wanna come to Wednesday night church with me?" Matt asked. I was hesitant because last night I had made up my mind that a god was no longer out there caring for me. "Uhh I don't know?" I responded. "Oh come on it won't be that bad!" He pleaded. The bell rang before I could say anything. "PLEASE!?" He yelled. "Fine!" I screamed and rushed to first period.
Paper airplanes one by one flew past my face. Gasping at the sight of hundreds of white flimsy aircrafts gliding through the air. Spring green grass covers my bare feet and vibrant yellow dandelions grow throughout the fields. I raise my arms and twirl in small circles and wish I could stay forever.
"Miss Lucy Collins this is the fourth time you've fallen asleep in my class, and it will be the last." Ms. Louison motions for me to come up to her desk. "Here." She says handing me a small yellow piece of paper. Detention! I just nodded and slumped back into my seat. "Uhh-loser!" Someone in the back row coughed.
"You ready?" Matt asked when I pick up the phone. "Yeah I'm getting dressed right now be out there in a couple minutes." I responded and hung up. I put on a knee length white skirt and a light pink blouse. I slipped on a pair of white flats and pulled my blonde hair out of its ponytail.
"I can't believe you got me to do this." I whispered as we walked up to the church doors. I saw many teens walk in along with us. "Oh come on its not like I'm asking you to shoot yourself." He joked. We took a seat as the preacher began to speak. I watched the evening sun throw its rays of bright light through the stain glass windows and color the entire room.
"It didn't kill you did it?" He asked getting into the car. "No it was actually fun." I said hating to admit I was wrong. "Oh really? Wanna come next week?" Matt asked obviously pleased that he was right. "Sure. Text me!" I yell running through my front yard.
I walked into the front room to see my dad passed out on the couch. I grabbed an old bible off of the old bookshelf in the hallway and scurried up to my room. I quickly got out of those stiff clothes and jumped in the shower. The warm water on my skin felt good and as the strawberry soap cleansed my dirt cover body old scars and bruises began to appear. I just sighed and got out.
After I had changed into comfortable pajamas and grabbed a couple slices of cold pizza I went back up to my room and sat on my bed with the bible I had grabbed. I flipped through to a couple of scriptures I remembered and read them. I grabbed a highlighter and began to highlight all the verses I liked. After about an hour I began to drift off.
