I dreamed of the most amazing things that night. A perfect world, a perfect family, everything was perfect, but when I woke up, it all ended. Dimitri was gone, people were screaming, there was blood all over from my selfish act the night before. I didn't want to move, but yet I still wanted to know what was going on. I pushed myself up then forced myself to stand.

It took me a second to gain my balance, but I did it. I look down and seen the huge gash across my arm. How was I still alive? In a way, I was amazed.

I heard someone running up the stairs. My door slammed open. It was Dimitri.

     "Go, Analise! Go!"

"What's going on? I thought you left. Why are you yelling?" but I heard footsteps, the ones that come from size 12 work boots, and in that moment, I knew why he was yelling.

"Analise! Why is he here! Did you invite him??" my father screamed.

"What? Dad, hold on. Let me think for a second."

"Think about what? Do you really have to think about what happened and why this guy is here?"

"I can explain, just hold on," I realized I was lying to myself. I couldn't explain to my dad why Dimitri was here. I didn't even know myself.

"Get out of my house! You have no right to be here!" he yelled at Dimitri. Dimitri and my father both looked me in the eyes. In Dimitri's eyes I seen disgust, but also I seen that he felt helpless. He knew what was going on in my life, but he couldn't help me or stop it from happening. In my father's eyes I seen rage. He was angry with me. Dimitri witnessed what was going on and he knew it. He knew he had been caught and didn't know how to handle it.

He yelled "Go," one last time and Dimitri came over to me and hugged me. It was a tight hug, one that I never wanted to end. He gave me comfort. I could see the agitation in my dad's eyes, so I forced Dimitri to let go. He looked me in the eyes one last time then walked away. He made it to the top of the stairs and I heard him mumble,

"Bastard," I don't know if my father heard this, but this time, I didn't care. My dad walked towards me with his fists clenched.

"I would hit you, but you'd go off and tell that little bitch of a friend you have that I did it. I can't believe you Analise. I guess I'll have to start in on your sisters now, seems how I can't do anything to you anymore because you got other people involved."

"No! Please don't! I promise I won't tell anyone! I'll make up things to cover what really happened and I'll make sure Dimitri doesn't tell anyone! I swear to you!" I begged him and begged him. His face was stone, I was never able to read him.

"Shut up. Go help your sisters clean the house before your mother gets back from her business trip. And while you're at it, clean up all this blood and throw away those blades. I don't want anyone but me hurting you."
