What's the worst that can happen?

Everyone dismisses me. No one respects me. A couple weeks ago I was living the life. I was the talk of New Orleans, the Alastor, radio host. And now, people treat me like I'm nothing. This is not any kind of existence to live. And now, what? I'm just going to die, my existence having been worth nothing?

Or, all I have to do is agree to help get revenge on a few people, and I'll have enough power to make a name for myself in this hell town and hold power over these miserable degenerates. And not be killed.

So really, what's the worst that could happen? I reach out to shake hands with the person across from me and seal the deal. I can't help but get a feeling at the last moment that this isn't a wise decision, but it's too late. They reach out and grab my hand, red light surrounding us.

I wake up. And I'm.... What is this? Sweating? That is it; I don't care how injured I am. This frivolous sleeping nonsense ends today.

I've been left with no instruction except to stay at the hotel and wait for further orders, and I can still feel the sickening pull of a leash gripping my soul. I despise it more than Lucifer, Adam, and Lilith combined. Speaking of Lucifer...

"Look, Charlie, all I'm saying is that this place would probably benefit if Alastor would stop summoning random parts of other buildings into the hotel. It just looks awful." I hear Lucifer say from the next room over when I teleport into the living room.

"Perhaps the hotel would benefit if you'd bother to actually have any taste that doesn't include tacky circus decor."

I walk into the room and stop by the fireplace, folding my arms behind my back. There's not much for me to do with my arms except folding them behind my back, now that my microphone is broken.

"Tacky?! Oh you son of a-"

"Ok! Ok, let's all calm down." Charlie says, always the pacifist. It's endearing at times... insufferable at others.

Across the room, Vaggie and Adam sit next to each other. Vaggie hasn't taken her eyes off of Adam since he showed up here the day before yesterday. I have no doubt in my mind that Vaggie will kill him in an instant if he makes a single misstep, which is oddly a comforting thing to know so that I do not need to be having my own eyes on the degenerate at all times.

It seems Cherri Bomb has decided to join us in the hotel today. She only seems half interested in becoming a proper guest in this hotel, more often than not running off to pursue some new jolt of adrenaline by way of some adventure that certainly does not align with the ideals of this place.

"Well, I'll be out today, running some personal errands. I am confident you should all be able manage well enough without me."

"Where are you going? I could come with you if you'd like!" Charlie says. It's incomprehensible to me how a single being can always be so ready to help anyone with anything.

"I'm sorry, my dear, but there are a few things I have to take care of alone. Take care!" I say and stroll out of the room toward the front door.

"Alastor?"

I stop and turn around to see Charlie, who has followed me out here

"So, as you know, we've been kinda having trouble getting guests to join the hotel." She says, chuckling in that slightly awkward way that says she's unsure of how to continue. I stare at her silently, waiting for her to finish.

"So, I was thinking that maybe if you would, um, maybe try and see if there's any way you could just try to... do some nice thiiiings, or help people out with stuff while you're out, that could maybe show people that you believe in our cause here."
