Hello everyone! Here's a rather small chapter, just to serve as an update so that you all know I am still working on this project. I have been busy lately, but I'll make sure to keep making time for this project. Hope you all enjoy!
"Dad, I know you're trying your best but... it's been almost a week already."
"I know, Charlie, but there's nothing I can do. Heaven's been completely radio silent. I even tried just opening a portal to see if I could get a glimpse at what's going on there, but the portals just close immediately."
I watch from my armchair in the corner of the room as Charlie and her clown looking father talk about his lack of ability to set up something so simple as a meeting. A meeting with Heaven about Adam having re-manifested in Hell as a demon after we killed him.
"Well of course they're not gonna wanna talk to you little bi*ches. Why would they after you slaughtered so many of their angels. Not to mention me. I'm sure they've all been in mourning for me ever since you freaks killed me."
If I didn't have enough reason to hate Adam already, he gives me more reason every day with his stupid, idiotic ramblings. A static sound begins emanating off of me. Of course that couldn't have been one of the powers that I lost when my microphone broke. I despise letting others see what I'm feeling, and that static is a sure sign when I'm upset.
Charlie looks at me with a worried look and I snap my head toward her and widen my smile, in a way that I'm sure didn't come off as very reassuring. Well if I can't kill Adam yet, I can at least torture him.
Nifty comes running into the room when I summon her. Adam shrieks and pulls his legs up onto the chair that he's sitting on.
"Keep that little one eyed freak away from me!"
Nifty runs up to him, holding her tiny dagger and giggling maniacally.
"Soooo... what's that bad boy doing today? Hehehe." She says in that crazed, strained voice she usually speaks in, especially when talking to people that she considers to be 'bad boys'. I've never understood her obsession, but it did get her to sell her soul to me.
"Va-G, get that little murderer AWAY FROM ME" He said, climbing up to the back of the chair he was in. The chair falls backwards from the unbalanced weight, and Adam scrambles up, trying to duck behind the chair before Nifty can get to him.
"It's Vaggie! Carajo, how hard can it be to pronounce my name right?" Vaggie says, rolling her eyes.
"Hey, I named you. I get to decide how it's pronounced.""No. You. DON'T!" Vaggie says, charging at Adam. She has an even shorter fuse with him at all times than I do, one that he has been steadily wearing down for the past week. Charlie jumps up and tries to stop Vaggie from attacking Adam as Nifty chases him around the room. Lucifer groans depressingly and slumps his head in defeat as the room dissolves into chaos.
My eye twitches as I watch the immature behavior of all the imbeciles in front of me. I don't have enough magic strength to force them back into their seats with my microphone broken, but maybe I can stop them some other way before I lose my sanity altogether.
I trip each of them with a series of small shadow tentacles popping out of the ground in front of them. They all look at me angrily.
"What the hell, asshole?" Vaggie says, standing up quickly and helping Charlie to her feet. I roll my eyes at Vaggie's protest but instead focus my attention to Charlie.
"Charlie, my dear, don't you think it would be wise for us to focus on a way to get in communication with Heaven rather than fighting each other like a bunch of children?"
"That was unnecessary, Al. But, yeah I guess you're right. We really need to get through to them. Dad, can you try opening another portal?"
Lucifer looks at Charlie like he wants to say something in protest but decides it's not worth it. Why does he always have such a depressed look in his eyes? He's the king of hell. What else could he possibly want?
He waves his hand and a portal opens in front of us where the fuzzy outline of bright clouds and golden gates can be seen.
"It worked!" Charlie yells excitedly. She tries to put her hand through the portal but it's solid and impenetrable. It's only a matter of seconds before the portal starts to shrink despite Lucifer trying his best to keep it open. As I stare at the shrinking portal, I'm sure I can see a flash of a familiar dark purple and yellow moving around behind the portal. But it closes too quickly for me to get a better look at it.
Everyone stares at where the portal had been with disappointment, except for Lucifer who just slumps again. This has been an utter waste of time.
"Well, chums, I'll be off. Toodaloo." I say, moving to leave. If we're not getting any closer to getting to heaven, I can get us closer to fixing my microphone and restoring my full power.
"Where are you going? You've been leaving every day since you could get out of bed without so much as a hint as to where you're going. So, what are you up to?" Lucifer says, standing up and walking up to me, trying and failing to be intimidating.
"I am in no way required to inform any of you of my business." I say, looking down at him, folding my arms behind my back so as to not do something I'll probably wind up regretting.
"Dad, don't-" Charlie begins, not wanting us to fight again.
"No, he's right Charlie. What have you been doing all this time?" Vaggie says, always ready to be suspicious of me.
"I'll remind you all that I am here of my own volition, and, according to the agreement I made with Charlie, am only required to help for as long as I please. I believe I have made it more than clear that I am loyal to this hotel, so your suspicions are unfounded and insulting. Now, I'll be off." I say in a firm tone, sinking into the shadows beneath my feet before I have to deal with any more accusations and interrogations.
