Sydney

Kath and I exchanged numbers after we put all the owls back. I'm just really excited that I've possibly scored a job, and that means I'll be able to get some more money and I can help Mum out a bit. Speaking of which, I find her with Dewey again. They're both smiling and giggling and blushing, it's really adorable.

"Hey, what's going on with Dewey and your Mom?" Kath asked.

"They're talking." I reply.

"Oh, I see. They're actually quite cute together. I hope they work out." Kath said.

"Me too. I just want Mum to be happy. She's amazing." I smile.

"She seems like it," Kath agreed, "I'll get in touch with you about what my manager says."

"Thank you. This means a lot to me." I look back to the taller girl.

"Hey, it's no problem. And honestly, the more people we have around, the better. It'll make life a lot easier."

"Still, thanks."

"You said you were sixteen, right?" Kath turned back to me and I nodded to answer her question, "What school do you go to?"

"I don't know yet. I start on Monday." I shrug.

"Okay. I'll speak to some people as see if you're going to my school." she smiled lightly.

"Oh, okay."

"And maybe I'll show you around. If you are at my school, just request for me." Kath said.

"Thanks, again. I'm thanking you a lot, aren't I?" I chuckle.

"Yeah, well... I'm helping you and it's just polite and you're showing your gratitude." she shrugged.

"I am really grateful."

"It's no problem, honestly. Anyways, I have to go. The next tour starts soon. And I have to be there for when Dewey clocks out and Sara clocks in. For some reason."

"Alright, I'll talk to you later." I smile at her.

"You will. Thank for your help, Sydney. Bye!" she waved as she left.

"Bye."

I hate goodbyes. They're so awkward. Especially since I didn't really want to say goodbye to Kath, I wanted to be around her a little more.

-------

Mum had messaged me to meet her at the car and I just went straight there. Dewey was in the front seat so I had to climb over Abigail to sit in the middle.

"You and Kath got on quite nicely, eh?" Mum teased as I buckled myself in.

"Yeah, she was great." I agreed.

"Did she let you keep that shirt?" Dewey asked, peering at me through the mirror. I look down and sure enough, I was still wearing her shirt.

"Uh, no. I think we both forgot I had it." I mumble. I pull out my phone to message Kath with a blush on my face.

It seems that I still have your shirt...

Really? I completely forgot. You keep it, it suits you ;)

Are you sure?

Yes!!! You just owe me one of your shirts if ygm

Yeah, okay

If my blush was bad before, it got even worse. Because of the angle of my head, I caught a gentle waft of sweet scent from the shirt. She smelled like cherry. And it was wonderful and made me want to be around her more so I can smell more of her scent. Which is weird.
