Kath got poorly. And I also got poorly because we made out later on in the day. So we're all staying the day at Kath's house and recovering. Tina stayed home too so she could look after all of us. We mostly cuddled with Kate in her bed or on the sofa but the three of us never really strayed far from each other.
Kath was practically attached to Kate, though. It was cute but at the same time, I was jealous. I want her to be attached to me. But then again, Kate is Kath's Mum, so naturally she'd find comfort in her.
Kate and I have done a lot more moving around than Kath. She's quite sick and seem to be getting worse. Kath wheezes when she breathes and has a constant painful headache. She's got a really bad cough and throws up from time to time. Christina said it wasn't anything to worry about, it's just a really bad cold but it's heartbreaking to hear her cry sometimes with the pain. She can barely get up, which means she has trouble getting to the bathroom to throw up. So there's a bowl she keeps next to her so she has something to throw up into.
Kate and I have a bad cough, sore throat, congestion, all the typical cold symptoms. Poor Kath has it the worst.
The curtains have been closed and the windows have been open for ventilation. Kath has had herself wrapped up all day, she's constantly cold but always sweating. And she's pale. Her usually tanned skin unhealthily white and it makes her red eyes more promiment. She's breaking my heart.
It's hard trying to get her up for food, she can't lift her head without it hurting and she cries when she attempts to do so.
"Kath, you have to get up. You need to eat." Christina said, gently.
"I can't Mama. It hurts too much." Kath replied with a small voice.
"I know, kid, but you need food so you can get better. How about if I carry you?" Tina suggests.
"We can try."
I watch helplessly from the bed as Christina picks up Kathryn, who groans in pain as she's lifted from the bed. Christina takes Kath from the rooms and it's just Kate and I.
"We need food." Kate said.
"I know."
"Do you need help getting up? How's your knee?"
"It's fine. I got it." I say as I get off of the bed. My crutches are right next to me so I pick them up and make my way to the living room. The curtains are open for a change and I see Christina pressing a glass to Kath's face.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"I think Kath needs to go to the hospital. Will you two be okay?" Christina says quickly.
"Whoa, babe. Calm down. What's happened?" Kate says.
"I think she's got meningitis." Christina answered, solemnly.
"Okay, yeah. Go, go." Kate nodded, "I want updates every ten minutes."
"Of course." Christina nodded. She packed herself and Kath a bag and soon left.
"Holy shit." I muttered.
"I'm fucking scared." Kate replied. She was on her phone and she called someone, "Hey... Yeah, can you come over... No, just you... Kath's gone to the hospital... I hope so... Meningitis... Yeah... Okay, love you, too. Bye."
"Who was that?"
"Apollo. She'll be here soon." Kate answered.
"Can I ask, why Apollo?"
"Kath and Apollo are close and Apollo is really good at calming me down. And she's not in work today." Kate explained.
"Ah, okay. I see."
