The Present Day (April, 2023)
Gay Girls Are Very Gay
Your POV
My heart stops as I arrive to pick Reneé up. She had called me, her voice almost in a panic and I couldn't help but worry. I know we weren't together but at least we were friends and however down bad it sounded, I cared about her. Jenna had understood completely and so left without me to the bar so it would just be me and Reneé in the car, just in case she needed someone to talk to. Still, even though this is friendly at best I can't help but feel those same butterflies flutter in my stomach again. We had made amends back at the hospital and yet I knew that there was no way I could ever be just friends with Reneé. We're gamblers. All in or nothing.
I stop right in front of her and open the window slowly, lowering my red sunglasses down to look at her. "Your sexy driver is here." Her sad, frustrated and in thought expression immediately turns into a grin when she sees me and she laughs.
"Mhm, very sexy driver." She grins as she opens the door to the passenger seat and I take a good look at her. She's wearing a see through button top and a lacy black bra that makes my head swirl up like a shaken martini. The shirt leaves little to the imagination and it is buttoned in such a way that her cleavage is showing. The shirt is oversized and drapes like curtains on a window sill, over black leather shorts which compliment her big boots that lace up almost to her knees. "Need a moment longer to stare, Clyde?" She teases but I don't look away. "What? Do I look sexy?" She murmurs softly as she gets into the passenger seat.
"Yeah. But that's not the word I'm thinking of." I murmur back, my heart beating out of its chest. "You look beautiful. Stunning. I don't think it's possible not to stare at you in awe."
I can see her eyes widen in shock as she suddenly makes the realization, almost as if it's given her some kind of deja vu. Her body shivers when I extend my hand to her face. "There." I say as I take off the claw clip and her blonde hair falls onto her shoulders. "I like the way your hair looks down." I whisper quietly, playing with her hair. I can feel her pulse through my fingers as they occasionally touch her throat when I play with her hair and her heart is beating fast too. I push back her bangs and for a second our faces are inches between us.
Until her phone starts ringing.
"One second." She whispers and her face furrows when she sees the contact name which garners a confused expression from myself. "Alissa, leave me alone. Let me enjoy my night in peace." She snarls and hangs up before the person on the other end can even say anything.
"Are you okay?" I ask softly, looking at her at a red light.
She looks lost in thought but before she smiles a little too brightly. I know it's fake but I decide not to push. "I'm just ready to get fucking wasted. Also I didn't know you could drive you were always my-" She stops herself and looks away. "A passenger princess."
I pretend not to notice her mess up and just laugh. "Yeah had to learn after I stopped having my favorite blonde chauffeur." I grin and elbow her. The rest of the ride is spent talking and laughing, the tension that we had before completely dissolving.
We get to the bar and she steps out to open my door, giving me her hand so I can step out. We walk in giggling and order drinks as the show is about to start. I feel hands wrap around my neck and I immediately recognize that rosy perfume. "Hey Jen." I smile as I turn around.
"Hey pretty." She stands in between me and Reneé. "Reneé." She nods in the blonde's direction. And I can feel the tension between them. As the night goes on we hear beautiful melodies that make my heart pump like the speakers in the bar, our brains going fuzzy from the alcohol we ingested.
