You looked at Grover in panic, he stood still searching his pockets. "I think.." Grover paused, "I think it's in the dog" He admitted. He looked back at you in worry, "What are we going to do?" You questioned. "I don't know. But if we don't move, it's not gonna matter" Annabeth replied, "Come on" She urged before leading the three of you down the wall.

As the group walked, you came closer to what looked like a decayed forest. An uneasy feeling spread through you, the darkness looming over the surroundings causing your stomach to do flips. Grover kept insisting he should be left behind, immediately, you shut him down. "We can't ignore this" Grover rambled, "Stop" Percy told the boy.

"It's just math. The three of us, plus your mum, is four people. And only three pearls, someone is staying behind and it should really be me." The saytr continued, "Grover, it wasn't your fault. And even if it was, I would never leave you behind" You reassured before handing him your pearl, Percy stared at you in disbelief. "No one gets let behind. Period" The blond stated whilst handing you the extra pearl, "After we get the bolt and stop this war, you guys are leaving. With my mum" Percy added. "What about you?" Grover asked but Percy began to walk away.

"Hold on Seaweed Brain, what about you?" You repeated after grabbing the boys arm, making him holt. "Quests aren't linear, right? I'll figure something out-" The boy replied before stopping, in front of him stood a tied figure. Their face pale and sickly, your heart was nearly thumping out of your chest. "Sorry" Percy mumbled to the strange person, it stood there in silence

"They can't hear you" Annabeth informed, "They?" Percy questioned. "Please don't tell me there are more" You stammered whilst looking round timidly, your gaze turned to the different figures scattered around, all of them in the same sort of trance like the one in front of you. The more you looked around, the more desperate you were to leave. "This must be Asphodel" Annabeth stated, "I read a book about this place" She continued before walking closer to the figure.

"Wait. No, no, no. What are you.." Grover spoke up before focusing on Annabeth who was pulling up the fabric that covered the bottom of the figure. As she pulled the fabric up, underneath was lots of thick roots connected to the person. "Are those roots?" Grover faltered, "Souls here are bound by regret. Haunted by choices they made in life, or never made" Annabeth replied.

A fearsome roar coming from behind, quickly grabbed the groups attention. Cerberus' growls echoed lowly, Percy clutched your hand before you could even process what was happening, now he was pulling you along as the both of you sprinted. Running didn't last long, something felt wrong. Like something was missing, or someone.

"Beth!" You called out in worry, your gaze looking back. "Annabeth!" Percy shouted whilst trying to look through the thick mist, "Guys!" Annabeth answered, her voice faint from the distance. The three of you rushed towards the sound of her voice, "Annabeth?" Grover repeated. Her fixed figure slowly coming into view, "Guys!" She sighed in relief. "We've got a problem here" Annabeth gulped, she motioned to her leg.
