THEO

I stared at the scene before me as I let Skye's words set in. He's her brother.

In all the conversations we had when we were getting to know each other, she mentioned her brothers but never their names. It never accrued to me to ask. My mind raced while Fang stared. He felt relieved.

Matilda mind linked us, telling us that Skye was hugging some man, which made us so pissed. I thought we were in an okay place before I left. We had to put the discussion about our future plans on hold when Louis mind-linked me about his truck not starting.

Shaking my thoughts away, I smiled and walked over to Skye. Her eyes were on me the entire time. I stopped in front of her and looked toward Reid, who had a confused look on his face. "You know my sister, Theo," he asked, glancing between us.

I nodded.

"Yes," I said, keeping my eyes on Skye. "She's my mate. We found each other—"

"Valentine's Day," he blurted out, cutting me off. I looked at him and gave him a nod.

Reid grinned and looked at Skye. "You found your mate on your birthday," he said with a smile. "Mum would have been so pleased. She always wanted you to find him on that day. Between your birthday and it being Valentine's Day, she knew it would have been romantic in some kind of way."

Skye stared at him, but I noticed her hand go to her locket while she said nothing. There was a hint of sadness forming, which I was concerned about, but Reid placed his hand on her shoulder and shook his head. "Skye," he rasped. "They both would have been happy to know. I just wish they were with us to see."

A lone tear escaped and rolled down his cheek.

This was heartbreaking.

Clearing my throat, I looked over my shoulder to see a crowd of people standing around. I looked back at them. "You both should talk," I said. "You haven't seen each other in so long. How about you go for a walk or to my tent?"

Reid nodded and looked toward Skye, who was staring at me. "Will come you to?" she asked, looking at me and then at Reid. "You tell us what happened. I don't think I will be able to tell him later after we speak."

I looked toward Reid, who nodded.

"Sure," he said. "It might be best. I haven't exactly told anyone about what happened since I have been here."

I gave him a nod and looked over at my brother, who gave me a knowing look. I opened a mind link to him to tell Louis what was happening and that I would see Matilda and him later.

Closing the mind link, I looked toward Skye, who had her hand held out to me. Smiling, I placed my hand in hers and we walked away, with Reid walking with us. We remained silent until we walked to my tent. I opened it and let everyone in.

Fang was quiet, but close by. He wanted to know everything, like I did.

Reid and Skye sat down, while I poured three mugs of coffee and handed a mug. Once I grabbed mine and sat next to Skye, who placed her hand in mine. We both looked at Reid, who was staring at us.

"I can't believe you are here," he said with a sigh. "Dad returned to the attack and three wolves ambushed him, killing him. He didn't have a chance to say if you made it out or anything."

Skye tensed beside me, and I placed my arm around her and pulled her toward me. This must have been the first time she was learning about the last part of the war.

Reid never mentioned what happened, but the others who came to stay with us too told us pieces. Everyone wanted to forget about the horrors that happened, and no one could blame them.
