THEO
My eyes lingered on the light that lit the room that she must have been in. I knew who she was; I smelt her scent when we arrived in town. It was only a matter of time before I claimed her.
Movement from behind me came, as did their scent. I didn't bother looking back. "You know you could have scared your mate," my brother Jacob said, stepping beside me. I didn't look at him, only keeping my eyes on the building before me.
I knew she could see me through the window reflection. That's why I moved back. It was taking everything in me to keep Fang, my wolf from taking over and pin her to the damn wall. He scented her earlier while we were setting up the fair. Following the scent, I stopped next to my tent and stared when I spotted her grey wolf.
Fang howled in the excitement that he got to see her wolf. He wanted to shift and claim her, but something was holding me back.
"You're not listening to me, are you?" Jacob blurted out, pulling me from my thoughts. I looked over at him.
Jacob rolled his eyes and frowned. "I was just saying you could find her tomorrow and find out more about her," he said. "It is Valentine's day, the most romantic day of the year."
Rolling my eyes, I looked back at the window. I could see her shadow passing by, but she never looked outside. Knowing that there was no point being here, I had to wait till tomorrow since we still had to set up more of the fair, which needed to be ready for tomorrow.
"We will see," I said, realizing that I still didn't answer my brother. "Come on, let's finish setting up."
Jacob stared at me for a moment before he nodded and walked off.
Turning around, I let my eyes look back at the flat one more time, willing for her to come to the window for me to see her one more time, but she didn't.
With a sigh, I walked away and headed back into the forest. Walking past where Fang and I watched her get dressed. My cock hardened at the sight. She was breathtaking. Everything we wanted and much more.
Fang grunted while I walked, which made me look at him. He frowned. "We should go in there," he muttered. "We need to be with her. We are not here that long. We will need to take her with us."
"Fang," I gritted out. "We can't just take her. That would be kidnapping."
Fang rolled his eyes and grunted. "No, it wouldn't," he muttered. "She was ours and ours alone. We can take her and look after her."
I knew where he was going with this.
We arrived in this small town yesterday and were told to set up this evening. Our boss, Louis, who is a bear shifter and runs the fair, has been taking in stray shifters when we arrive in different towns. Some who we encounter don't care and move on, but some actually want a family who lost their family.
My brother and I were rogues when we met them. A savage vampire went through our small pack of wolves that we lived with and drained them of their blood. My brother and I grabbed each other and ran away. We ran until we couldn't anymore. The pack we lived with was made up of only a hundred. It was a small pack that was establishing itself with the others. We had a beta for an alpha, but he wasn't strong enough to face the vampires. They came in the night and were killed. We only knew what was going on because our father told us to leave and not come back. When we asked what was happening, there was a loud scream coming from one tent close to us and the smell of blood hit us. It was hard, but we left.
Shaking my thoughts, my mind raced over the last few months. There was a huge war between some packs a few months back, which took many lives. We stumbled upon the wreckage and took in some wounded. The smell of death was hard to bear when we walked around to find the living.
