A few weeks later Drew's POV

I was at work seeing patients, and listening to the news about the sniper that was going on a rampage shooting cops. Rick was doing Swat Training all week, so I knew he wasn't at the sniper situation.

I had come out of a patient room and leaned against the desk to fill out the chart I had, and I saw Jordan sit in front of me. "Is Rick on duty tonight?" "No, he's training with Houston Swat all week, TC's out there though," I say. "Course, he was one of the first doctors to sign up for San Antonio Swat," Jordan says. "Only because I had other things going on at the time," I say. "Okay, you know what, you can put the measuring tape away. We all know you got a big one too," "Feel free to say that louder," I say, and Jordan and I laugh. "Hey, I thought you were bringing Azrah to work tonight?" Krista asks. "I was, until the neighbor across the street offered to babysit, so we're trialing that tonight to see how Az does. He's gotten more attached to me and clingy. I think he's going through a growth spurt," "Ah,"

A few hours later

I was leaving a patient room when my phone rang with Riley's contact. "Hey," "I hate my dad sometimes," Riley says. "You say that every time you call. What did he do now?" I ask. "He wants me to transfer to the college near the house. One, they are a 2 year community college, and don't have my major, and two, he probably wants to keep closer tabs on me and make me come home every weekend," Riley says. "Have you looked at colleges in Texas, I would let you live with me, Rick, Brianna and Azrah , I'm sure Rick would agree," I say, as I lean against the desks. "Yeah, I've been looking at the University of Texas at San Antonio," "Ok, see if you can transfer," "Ok, I'll let you know what the transfer center says," "OK, look, I gotta go, I'll call you when I can. Twenty-four," "Seven" I hung up and got to work.

A few hours later

I had a bit of time, so I called Riley back. "Hey, did you find out anything?'' I ask. "Yeah, a lot actually, I emailed with a counselor and we set up a time to fill out paperwork for me to transfer to San Antonio," "Okay, that's a start, do you need any help with getting all your stuff?" "Possibly, though I'd rather move out of that house when my father and his wife are not home, but I have a feeling that won't happen," "You know, Rick is a cop now, so he can be the person between you and them," "If that works than I'm all for it, I want out of this hellhole," "I know you do. I will call Rick in a bit," "Ok, also I know that I may want to take a gap semester to get settled in," "Okay, whatever you want to do. Are you able to transfer with your scholarships?" 'I think so, I can email my counselor and ask," She says, as I hear my name being yelled. "Okay, I gotta go, love you,"

I got off the phone. "What do we got?" "Shot in the leg, through and through," "Trauma 1, Molly can you page Scott?" "Yes,"

A few minutes later

Scott walked into the trauma room. "What am I dealing with?" He asks. "Through and through to the leg," "Okay," He started looking at the leg, "He needs surgery, I'll take him," "Okay," I helped Scott get the patient in the elevator with the OR nurses and then headed back down the hall, and saw swat officers in the waiting area, and Rick leaning against the nurse's desk. "Hey, why are you here?" "Freak accident while training, I'm okay, but Johns, not so much," "What happened exactly?" "Gun went off, we all thought we had blanks and training bullets in the guns, but apparently one bullet was a live one, Johns got it right below the vest in the abdomen. I feel horrible," He says. "Babe, don't put this on yourself, it was a freak accident, he'll be fine, Jordan's working on him, yeah?" I ask. "Yeah," "Okay, I'm going to go check on them, and I'll be back," "Okay, I'm going to go in the break room and call his wife," "Got it, love you," I say "Love you too," He says.

I then pulled my phone out because I heard it ping with an email. I opened the app and the email said that I had a reserve drill, this weekend. "Great, another thing I didn't need," I say walking into the trauma room. "How is he?" "Touch and go, did Rick call the wife?" "He is right now," I say, and walk back out of the room.

A few minutes later

Rick walked out of the breakroom. "She's on her way here," He says. "Okay. I got an email that said that I have to attend drill this weekend," "Okay, I think I can survive without you for three days," Rick says. "You might, but I may not," I say. "Babe, it's not like they're making us break up. It's one weekend,"

"Yeah, but still I don't want to go, I know for one thing I'm going to be treating dehydration and sunburns all weekend," I say. "Fun," Krista says. "No, not fun. It's never fun. See if this one," I said pointing at Rick, "Was in my unit, I'd have someone else to talk to besides Javi and Charlie," I say. "Well, I do have access to the base, since I am in a different unit," "Oh, does that mean you can come to be my knight in shining armor?" "Maybe, I can see what I can do," Rick says. "Oh, I forgot, um... Riley, she wants to move here, and transfer colleges, she's been talking with a counselor and getting things situated," "Okay," "We may have to go be the middlemen between her and her dad when she moves her stuff out," "Alright,"

We then saw Jordan walk out of the room. "Hey Jordan, I need this weekend off, I have drill this weekend," I say. "Granted,"
