"Alex, Mrs. Jenkinsmeyer healed you, you're not sick anymore." "Why are you still crying?!..." Edalyn asked in exasperation.
"I know your first teeth should be growing by now but that doesn't mean you have to bother mum." Edalyn said trying to get her daughter to stop crying.
"Please Alex, sleep or at least be quiet, mum has to go get the elixir."
"Do you know what the elixir is for? It's for mom to keep from turning into a monster." "You don't want mommy to turn into a monster, do you?" She asked Edalyn jokingly and also a little no.
Needless to say, Alex didn't stop crying.
There's no spell to keep a person quiet, is there? The Owl Woman thought.
I do not believe. Edalyn said silently answering herself.
"Understood..." She said softly "I understand." She noticed immediately after a while.
"Alex, if you're good, I'll take you with me to get the elixir." Alex lowered the tone of his crying but didn't stop.
"So that means you're going to leave this house with me." Eda finally said.
Silence. A little face was looking at her as if it understood what she had just said.
"Was it really enough to make you stop crying?!" She asked Clawthorne in surprise and exasperation. Alex smiled at his mom. The most beautiful smile in the world.
"You are the most beautiful little girl in the world, do you know that?!" Edalyn said smiling at her little girl and lifting her up in her arms like the Lion King._--...--_
Eda, regardless of the risk she ran in going to get the elixir with Alex, was a woman of honor, she could not fail to keep a promise, even if made to a 6-month-old baby.
She took Owlbert, a little hesitant in Eda's choice to take Alex to the market, a market a little too dangerous for a newborn, for anyone really but even more so for a little girl like Alex.
The journey to go from the owl house, his home, and the market was not so long but still tortuous if done with a person, usually, not so compliant, but, miraculously that time 'the person, usually, not so compliant she had been compliant: she had slept for almost the entire trip, and, if she wasn't asleep, she remained calmly looking at the view, the sea, not so safe, the forest, full of monsters and the town, the emperor's kingdom Belos, the man who hunted her mother and home to her aunt Lilith, unaware that she had become an aunt._--...--_
Eda had recently arrived on the black market, as always her conditions had not improved, perhaps even worse.
She was heading to "Mr. Elixir" Morton's shop, the only one that sold the elixir that helped her fight the curse. As she went deeper into the market she was more and more careful not to let anyone see, not even for a second, what she had under her cloak, that is, Alex, her daughter. She, Alex, strangely remained calm, as if she had understood that she should not be seen. She remained calm under her cloak, she did not sleep but she remained calm and looked, as much as she could, at what surrounded her: the various not so legal shops, the people who were also not too recommendable, mainly the people who Belos, the emperor Belos , had put under arrest warrant, including his mother.
When The Owl Woman arrived at the shop, Mr. Elixir, it was already closing, incredibly every time Eda arrived to stock up on elixir the shop was closing, as if Morton knew she was coming and wanted to avoid her.
"Hey Edaaa..." Morton said as he saw her coming towards her shop.
"Sorry, I'm closing..." Morton said, shrugging his shoulders and trying to lower the shop shutter.
"No excuses Morton, give me the elixir, I need it." Eda immediately replied, blocking him from closing the shop and with a look that allows no replies.
"Okay, okay Eda; I'll get you the elixir." She replied Morton knowing that when Eda had that tone there was no hope.
"Good boy." Edalyn replied smiling at him, with the addition of a satanic look."Here's the elixir, it's less than usual, I'm having problems with the supplier of the ingredients." She said, returning and justifying Eda's missing 1/4 of her usual amount.
"And when should these problems be resolved?" Eda asked.
"I don't know..." Morton replied.
"Can I close now? Will you leave me alone?" Morton said looking at her still angry from before.
"Yes, yes." She replied nonchalantly.
A noise, a moan that came out of her cloak.
"What noise is it? Is it coming from your cloak?"
Crisis. Panic.
"What is that thing you have under your cloak?"
Crisis. Panic.
"Nothing nothing." Eda immediately said agitatedly, covering her body with her cloak, to hide Alex.
"Sorry but I really have to go now." She added. She disappeared. She ran, actually she walked fast, as fast as she could, she had to move away. If Morton had seen Alex of her it means that it was almost time for Belos to find out, for him to use it against her. Damn he was an idiot for bringing his own daughter to a place like this.
Wait a minute he had brought her daughter to such a place! He was a genius. Imagine if people would have believed someone like Morton, let's be clear nothing against Morton, but who would have believed someone like him. He is one of the least reliable people in the world.
Pff... At least for once one of his stupid things hadn't turned out to be so stupid._--...--_
Ok folks, obviously it took me forever to write this chapter and I apologize profusely. I hope you enjoyed it and nothing I hope the next one arrives in a decent time. Because I know this didn't come in a decent time frame.
P.S.There will probably be a fairly important Skip time in the next chapter.
