Upon reaching the portal, Korra has Asami take Tonraq back to Katara. She splits up those remaining into separate groups: Tenzin, Bumi and Kya will go find Jinora while Bolin, Naida and Mako will engage Unalaq and Korra will go to close the portals.
They make it inside and Unalaq directs the spirits toward them. "Go find Jinora!" Naida orders as Korra enters the Avatar State, sending the curses back by a wave of air.
Mako and Bolin hold back Unalaq while Korra reaches the Southern portal. Unalaq throws both Mako and Bolin behind which angered Naida.
She glances back at him as her eyes flashed white, Naida sent a powerful blast of three attacks combined which Unalaq returned with a smirk. Naida turns her arms in a swift motion and slams her palm against the water as the drops of water flew beside her face.
Unalaq was found confused by her dodged attacks, but was blasted away with another one.
While Korra tries to close it but is blown backward by a pulse of energy as Harmonic Convergence begins.
Unalaq looks on with a crazed smile as a purple haze stretches across the poles, Republic City, and eventually the entire world. Vaatu uses the amplified spiritual energy to break free from his prison and laughs triumphantly as he approaches Korra.
Naida, Mako and Bolin all watch with terrified looks.
Korra prevents Unalaq and Vaatu to combine, sending her uncle back into the real world. "Don't let Unalaq back into the spirit world!"
"We're on it!" Bolin yells as the three ran into the portal.
The three stand in front of the portal in their stances. Bolin glances at Naida as she send him a nod and glances to Mako. As Mako was lost in her look, Naida notices multiple ice shards. "Look out!" She yells and creates an ice wall, protecting herself and the two brothers.
Mako hurls fire at their unseen opponent before Bolin follows up his attack with the wall. They can only enjoy a short reprise as another ice attack cuts through the air toward them. Naida quickly moves the two brothers to the side and shields her face with her arms as the ice hits and leaves multiple scratches on her face.
"Nai!" The two brothers yell simultaneously as Naida was pushed back. "You okay?" Mako quickly rushes to her side as the attacks stopped. "Mhm." Naida nods as they get back to their stances.
"I don't think we can win this fight." Bolin admits, "It's not about winning, It's about not letting Unalaq enter the spirit world." Naida reminds him.
Bolin creates three walls as they all hid behind them. "Hello...my feeble turtle duck."
Bolin's screams were heard. Before Desna can attack Naida, she pushed herself off the ground and sent a water blast with her kick.
Just as she lands beside Mako and Bolin, the three were attacked by a blast of water by Unalaq, making them all go unconscious. Naida in the middle with the two brothers by her side.
"Don't let them escape this time." Unalaq says and steps over to the portal before glancing towards Naida, "And don't underestimate her, Some say she's stronger than any water bender they had ever seen."
The two twins began pulling away the two brothers as they hadn't noticed Naida has woken up while they left her behind. She got on her knees and slammed her palm on the snow. Few glowing strings flow through the ground and emerge underneath Desna and Eska, allowing the Mako and Bolin to escape from their grip.
"Come on!" Mako grabs Naida by her arm and pulls her inside with him into the spirit world.
Naida was already weakened as she hasn't recovered from the unconsciousness. Mako held her over his shoulder before him and Bolin were frozen by the two twins, in respond Mako lost his grip on Naida as she fell forward with a thud.
Unable to do anything else, Korra and Naida watch helplessly as Vaatu fuses with Unalaq permanently, using the energy from the spirit portals to cement the bond. Naida let out a sharp painful scream as she felt her head had just exploded. The change affected her physically.
Naida slowly got on her feet weakly as she tried to sent an attack towards the twin but was overpowered and soon prisoned in ice beside Mako. Naida felt useless and weak as she lets her head fall with her hair sticking onto her face from the sweat.
Naida (1) I found myself by a beach at night as the waves overflowed the sand. I wore my water tribe clothes as my hair was released.
"Hello, Naida." I heard a kind voice calling from behind me. Confusingly, I turn around and find myself no longer by the beach, but in space. "The cosmic energy of the universe." I mumble to myself.
Glancing down at my hands, they were surrounded with grey aura.
"You look...beaten up." I glanced up and saw myself. But she was different. She had white aura surrounding her as she glowed with only dark thing; her grey eyes.
"Where am I?" I question. "You are in between life or death. Naida, you still don't know your purpose, I see."
She smiled with kind eyes, "My purpose? I don't even know what I am for spirit's sake!" I grew frustrated.
"You, Naida, are the balance between life and death as much as your friend; Avatar Korra is the balance between the real world and the spirit world."
I was still shook by this and confused as she continued speaking, "You and Drogon are one. You noticed that you can change what element he attacks with, but only have two elements of choice."
"Water and Fire." I mumble as the woman nods.
"Water is the element of change. The moon is the source of power in waterbending, and the original waterbenders learned to bend by observing how the moon pushed and pulled the tides. However, with the fire it's different."
"Fire is the element of Power, consisting of overpowering force tempered by the unflinching will to accomplish tasks and desires. 100 years ago, the fire nation twisted fire-bending into being fuelled by rage, hatred and anger."
I was confused by all of this, "And that means..?"
The woman facepalms herself, "People find water as peace-full of life. While with fire, they find it dangerous- death threatening. That's why you are gifted with bending both of the elements, you are ying and yang. Light and darkness of our lives."
My eyes widen as she continued, "Your world is soon to be filled with darkness. It is your and the Avatar's destiny to change it and defeat Vaatu once and for all."
