Conrad's pov
"Yh well not that much I think I'm done with dinner I'm just" Addie says getting up fromher chair
Addie looked so upset why did I say that I never wanted this I just wanted the attention off me.
"No please, mom asks. please stay.,for me"
Addie sits back down but all eyes still on her.
Fantastic I've go and upset her again that's all I ever seem to do.
I remember we were together that summer when we were 16. She'd beg me to sing for her even though she was always better than me .
I'd go to her bands shows and watch her sing the song she wrote.
the smile on her face wen she'd come running to my arms wen they were done with there set..
I can't believe how badly I messed things up.
Are friend ship was never the same after that summer and after two years I still can stop thinking about it.
"Laurel speaks first"
"Well if your not doing football and your not doing music then what are you two gonna do all summer"
"Oh dude, you guys can work at the club with me and jere" Steven asked and Jeremiah agrees "Yh it would be fun"
"I'm not going to work the club." I say looking down at my food
"I don't know maybe I could ask beck to help" she says not looking at me
"Wait you guys are working this summer" belly asks disappointment
"Yh I'm lifeguarding and Steven working the snack shop" Jeremiah says to belly
"Oh belly Addie" mom says "I almost forgot, I have a surprise for you both" She chuckles As she hands Addie and belly envelopes.
"So this is why we had to stop by the Country club." Laurel says a little annoyed. Mom's only reply was a "Mm" as she sat back down.
Steven curious says "What uh, wh-wh-what Is that"
"I wrangled belly and Addie invitations to be debutantes"
Wait wasn't Addie already a debutante like 3 years ago. Belly asks
"Yh and do we really want to re live that experience." Steven asks Addie kicks him under the table.
"It was more like 2 and a half and she didn't go though with it" Jeremiah says "you never did tell me why"
She made eye contact with me then looked back at her food.
"She didn't need a reason she properly just didn't like" Laurel says as she takes a sip of her drink. And gos to get more.
"I still can't believe you're holding on to this archaic dream." Laurel continues
"No it use to be about finding a husband. now it's about networking they teach you leadership skills,And it benefits charity. It's, um, like a bat mitzvah." Mom try's
Laurel laughs "it's not like a bat mitzvah. There is nothing religious about a debutante ball."
"The whole deb scene is bullshit. It's for sheep". I say looking up form my food.
"You weren't saying that last year when you went with Nicole. And If debs are sheeps then I'm one two I mean I was almost a deb.
"No to mention Jane " she says quietly
"Almost but you weren't I say not knowing why it bothers me so much that moms asking them to do this."
"Who's Nicole" belly asks "The girl Conrad's seeing" Addie says. I can tell she is trying to be nonchalant
