"What do you say I take you out on a proper date?" Lando asked through FaceTime as I sat on my bed resting as I had just returned from the gym.
"And what does a proper date with Lando Norris entail?" I smile looking at his grin.
"Well that's for me to know and for you to find out." I laughed at his statement. We had met up a few times for lunch and even to go for a run a few times for the couple weeks he was in the UK. He was beginning to call more which threw me off. I still hadn't talked to Nadine. I was nervous at this point. It had been roughly 3 weeks but Lando was really growing on me. Even with his busy schedule, he had managed to fit time in. I'm sure things would die down soon with the season starting in 2 weeks. "I'm serious we spend all this time talking on the phone, and going on runs and lunch getting to know each other. I wanna wine and dine you, Baby." He smiles.
"You're such an idiot. But because you beat me on our last run, I will treat you with my presence." I smile as he smirks.
"I beat you every time we run, darling." He says causing me to blush.
"Had anything happened with you and Nadine?" I ask randomly changing the subject.
"What?" He asked seeming to be caught off guard.
"Nadine, my best friend. Roommate." I reminded him.
"What about her? Where has this come from?" He asks brows pulled together in confusion.
"I don't know, just curious. I've asked her about you and she makes it a point to keep conversation short." I shrug looking at the time, she would be home soon.
"Oh so you're asking about me?" Lando laughs causing me to roll my eyes.
"Shut up." I joke shaking my head. "No I mean like the night at the club, we talked about you the next day and she was just saying not to waste my time because you were going to u-"
"What I do is none of her business. If I'm interested in you that's between you and I." He scoffs in annoyance.
"Lando relax, I didn't mean for you to be upset. I just don't want to betray her trust and our friendship. Girl code you know? And if photos of us surface of the internet, how am I to explain that?" I say tilting my head to the side.
"I understand but she doesn't need to drag my name through the dirt." I could see that he was mad.
"So you're interested in me?" I smirk deciding to lighten the subject.
"Baby, you know I'm interested in you. It's you who keeps Insisting we're friends but I see the way you look at me. If it were up to me you'd be in Bahrain at testing with me right now." He smiled causing me to blush once again. He had gotten in the habit of calling me baby and darling I didn't know what to think of it.
"Well I'm giving you the opportunity, this date. I did say yes." I say not knowing when he'd even find the time.
"Okay, how about March 10? I'll be back in the uk for a week or so before heading down to Australia." He suggests as if I'd know what'd I'd be doing.
"Okay." I shrug, laughing. It was nearly three weeks away. He probably wouldn't even remember.
"Hey love, I'm needed out on track soon, I've gotta go. But I'll text you." Lando says throwing me his boyish smile. I bid my farewell and hung up the phone.
At this point I didn't know what to believe. The way lando was around me, he was genuine, kind, and soft in a way. I couldn't imagine him being the person described to me by Nadine. She had said he cheated on his last girlfriend multiple times. She said he was rude to most women and said and did whatever he wanted. That wasn't the lando I had known throughout this month. I know Nads wouldn't steer me wrong which is why I am slightly cautious around him.
After a while, Nadine had finally returned. "God that dinner took forever." She sighed. She had a work dinner and looked exhausted.
"How was it?" I ask as she sits next to me on the sofa.
"Fine a suppose. Dinner and a couple glasses of wine. Business talk, some banter. We should be closing a deal next week sometime on some collaborations." She shrugs. "How was your day?" She questions.
"Hey that's awesome!" I smile offering some cheer. She had so much to be proud of. "My day was good. Work was work. Got back from the gym a couple hours ago. I tried that deli down the street like you told me, it was so good!" I said, really emphasizing good.
"Oh you tried it! That place slaps." She says and we talk a bit more. I loved my time in Monaco even though it ended horribly, but I missed having Nadine here all the time. After leaving home for school all those years ago, Nadine really turned into my rock. My second family.
"What do you want to do this weekend?" Nadine asks, looking over at me. I look back contemplating.
"I don't know, is there anything you've been wanting to do? Anything else I should see around London?" I quiz, trying to think.
"Let's go on a day trip outside of London!" Nadine suggests as her eyes light up.
"Absolutely!" I agreed, thinking it was a great idea. There is so much of the UK and I haven't visited any of it besides London and st. Ives where Nadine is from.
"Let's go to Paris!" Nadine said to which I looked at her wide eyes. "It's only 2 and a half hours. We take the first train there and the last one back." She suggests.
I look at her for a moment contemplating "fuck it lets go to Paris." I laughed thinking she was crazy but who else would I do crazy shit with?
