Being here has been a dream. My family felt closer than ever and I knew it would be hard to leave tomorrow. The weather was wonderful, much better than the rain in London. Don't get me wrong, I loved London and it was my home but this was my country. We were all going into town today to go to the market. They had all kinds of things. Everything from food to paintings.
I choose to go rather casual in a red white and blue stripped oversized rugby polo, a black skirt with some white socks and ballet flats. Once we were all ready, we hopped into my brothers Alfa and made our way into the heart of the city. Nadine sat up front with my brother while I sat in the back with my parents. The two of them seemed to get along quite well. It was unfortunate that we're in London because I don't think I would mind them together. My brother has never really mentioned her but I know Nadine had a bit of a school girl crush on Louis.
We had arrived to see how busy it was. All kinds of people filled the streets trying to sell their products. My parents walked in front while my brother stood to my left and my best friend on my right. Going from tent to tent, we stopped to look. There was one in particular that caught my eye. There was a women selling mini flags I grabbed the Mexico one and decided to buy it. Lando had gotten me one with the UK flag so that "I'd always have him on my mind". I laughed when he gave it to me but I loved it. Usually people hang them in their cars but I didn't have a car so I hung it on the post of my bed.
Eventually we found ourselves eating lunch at a little taqueria. Nadine absolutely loved it. She when on about how she's never had food like this in the Uk and we were sure to remind here that it was because it was the UK. Nothing against the food but Mexican is just a completely different palate of taste. The day went like this. We had a cook out in the evening and drank a couple margaritas and sat around the fire talking. Before we all called it a night, my mom took Nadine and I's dirty clothes so she could wash and dry them before we left tomorrow. I may have called Lando while intoxicated but he didn't seem to mind much. I met Carlos Sainz through FaceTime and we talked to each other in Spanish poking fun at Lando as he didn't catch all of what we were saying. Lando told me he'd call before we boarded and that he couldn't wait to see me. Carlos mocked him in the background and I could tell Lando was a bit embarrassed because his cheeks turned red. After bidding goodnight Nadine and I talked for a while, speculating about what Miami would bring. I had never been, so I was excited.
My brother had woken both Nadine and I up and my mom had cooked breakfast. We had an easy morning before I had do say goodbye to my family.
"llama pronto." My dad tells me as he pulls me in for a hug.
"siempre llamaré." I smile, bidding my farewells. Nadine gets hugs and waves as well. They tell her to visit and my brother loads our things in his car and we're off. I sit in the front seat looking out the window.
"You okay?" Louis asks, grasping my shoulder for a short squeeze.
"Yeah just going to miss you guys." I smile.
"Don't worry, love. I'll make sure you come back to visit soon." Nadine chimes in making turn to her and grab her hand.
"Thanks Nadine. You know you're always welcome too." Lou smiles into the rear view mirror. I see her blush and it makes me roll my eyes while a grin pulls across my lips. I didn't want to leave but the time here couldn't have gone any better. Not too long after we arrive at the airport and are getting out.
Louis and I give each other a big hug. "Te amo." I say to him as he lets me go.
"Tambien te amo y estoy orgullosa de ti." He says ruffling my hair. I groan in annoyance but it made me smile at the same time. Know he and my family were proud of me was something special to me.
After going our own ways Nadine and I made our way through the airport and finally to our terminal.
"I'm so fucking excited for Miami." Nadine says with a sigh, her leg bouncing with anticipation as we waited to board.
"I know, I can't wait." I hum back, scrolling through Instagram.
"Can't wait for Miami or Lando?" She asks raising a brow.
"Both." I say sticking my tongue out at her. She shrikes, causing a few people to look our way. I quickly quiet her down as I see photos of Lando and Carlos come up on my explore page. They looked like they were out at a club. Lando had told me they went out. I don't know why it made me nervous. Wondering what or more like who Lando would be with.
Boarding the plane sitting side by side, I sent a quick message to lando that we were on time and boarding. He messaged back quickly letting us know he'd be waiting for us.
I watched as we took off, circling the city. Flying away up above the clouds, I watch my hometown disappear. The flight wasn't long, just over 3 hours. I was beginning to grow hungry.
"I need food." I groaned to myself Nadine nodding in agreement.
"Do you think Lando will pick us up or did he send someone?" She asks from my right.
"I don't know but either way, I hope we stop." I felt like we just ate not too long ago but for some reason I was hungry. Maybe it was the anticipation of seeing Lando. With the way things were going I enjoyed getting to talk to him and seeing him was special for me. I knew how busy he was so getting to spend time with him was something that was beginning to give me butterflies in the best ways.
