"Miss Kim, how are you coping with your co-stars?"
The question barely registered before Jisoo’s pre-rehearsed response came flowing out, her manager’s advice still fresh in her mind.
"Mr. V is everything I had heard—talented, hardworking, and incredibly committed to his craft. As his female love interest in Filter, I’ve found him deeply immersed in his role. I’d also like to thank Mr. Li, our director, and Miss Samantha, our screenwriter, for their tremendous efforts in bringing this beautiful story to life. We are all working harmoniously to ensure the success of this project. Thank you."
She placed the mic back on the table, sighing in relief as the reporters shifted their attention to the others. The break was brief but welcome. She reached for her water bottle and took a long gulp, unaware of how parched she had been—until Taehyung pushed his own bottle toward her.
“Thank you,” she whispered, barely glancing up.
“Anytime,” he replied casually.
The press continued with their relentless questions, but Jisoo was able to drift into her own thoughts. Time seemed to slip by.
“Aren’t you excited?” J-Hope’s voice interrupted her reverie. He strolled into the private café made exclusively for the cast and crew, flashing his usual infectious grin. “The promo’s about to air worldwide, and the viewership might even hit 12 million. Why so grumpy?”
Jisoo muttered under her breath, “I’m more worried about surviving until then.”
J-Hope froze mid-step, dropping his wallet. He quickly bent to pick it up, reading the tension in her voice. "How long has it been bothering you?" he whispered as they walked together.
“Since the moment they asked about V,” she replied softly, her eyes scanning the surroundings.
“Do you know who sent them?”
“Of course. His father’s company. It always is.”
J-Hope grimaced, nodding in understanding. “They’re still keeping tabs on you after all these years? I thought you handled it back then.”
“I did. But he’s more worried about his son’s self-control now.”
They had already made their way into the VIP section of the theater. It was heavily guarded, with security so tight that even someone as skilled as the woman with the corn-silk hair and green eyes—who had been tailing them—wouldn't stand a chance. If she tried anything, the sensors on the guards would trigger an alarm, summoning law enforcement and specialized bodyguards within a minute. Her story would end before it could even begin.
Jisoo took her seat between Taehyung and Park Hyung Sik, who played the antagonist in Filter. Hyung Sik stood to greet her warmly, while Taehyung lounged arrogantly, his legs crossed, his whole demeanor dripping with his trademark sarcasm.
“Evening,” Hyung Sik greeted her politely.
Jisoo smiled back, ignoring Taehyung's haughty posture as if he were a mere background detail. She was used to his antics by now. Her attention flicked to the crowd, noticing two distinct factions: one cheering for her and Taehyung, the other for her and Hyung Sik.
Great, she thought sarcastically. Two ships. Two worlds.
It wasn’t really about her; they were cheering for Taehyung’s Jisoo or Hyung Sik’s Jisoo—their versions of her character, molded by fan fantasies. She suppressed the urge to roll her eyes, knowing it would only upset the fans.
Instead, she distracted herself by scrolling through social media, only to find her name trending—alongside V’s.

“What the—” She stopped mid-thought, her eyes zeroing in on the fifth tag.
Curiosity piqued, she opened the article. It featured photos of other celebrity couples, including La Ri Ma and Kim Jung Sook, caught holding hands in public, and Kim Namjoon and Min Sora, who were already married but still being stalked by paparazzi. Jennie and Jin were mentioned too, with a picture from their high school days.
She smiled momentarily, remembering Jennie and Jin’s history. But then she scrolled down to the last article—and her smile vanished.
#V and Jisoo
Her breath caught as she saw the photos. Dated five years ago, the images showed her and Leo under the Han River bridge, sipping coffee, their faces obscured by caps and masks. The second photo, more recent, featured her and Taehyung in their contrasting red and blue outfits from the premiere. The caption speculated wildly about their “relationship.”
The comments were a mess—some fans were convinced, others weren’t—but that wasn’t what bothered her.
Why now? she wondered. Why bring this up after five years? Why now, when everything between us is over?
Her thoughts raced as she quickly took a screenshot and sent it to her PR team. Something wasn’t right. Kim Hyungsuk was behind this—she was sure of it. But why now? She had accepted his “advice” years ago. What more could he possibly want?
Her grip tightened on her phone as she tried to maintain her composure.
