THE TRAIN COMES TO a sudden halt, jolting Barley, Adam and the rest of the Tributes out of whatever little sleep they had gotten. Shouting and commotion could be heard outside of wherever they had stopped.Barley looks around confused not knowing what is happening.
"Are we at the Capitol?"Adam asks his voice barely above a whisper.
As if on cue the door to their cart is pulled open, a Peacekeeper stands by the door his gun out as if he's ready to shoot them at a moment's notice.
"Everybody out!"The voice of the Peacekeeper shouts.
Coral is the first one to exit the cart jumping down easily, next Mizzen follows behind not wanting to be too far from Coral, Lamina, and Treech follows along with Treech helping Lamina out of the cart.
Barley steps forward seeing sunlight for the first time in what feels like forever, she jumps out of the cart as gracefully and carefully as she can, she then turns around and holds her hands out for Adam to take, which he does and Barley helps him carefully exit the cart and land safely on the station floor.
Barley looks around and sees how much nicer the Capitol station is compared to the one back home in nine. The sounds of Peacekeepers shouting and dragging other tributes out of their carts echo across the platform. Barley and Adam don't know what to do so they stand with the other tributes from her cart.
Something then catches the attention of Adam, a boy older than him with white blonde hair and wearing a red uniform carrying a book bag and holding a white rose. Adam looks confused and then nudges Barley in the side, Barley looks down at Adam who points at the boy. Coral, Mizzen, Lamina and Treech look at the boy and seem just as confused as Adam.
There isn't time for Barley or Adam to figure out why the boy is there as a couple of Peacekeepers start leading the tribute out of the station and towards a truck the back is already open. Inside are two benches against either wall and the tributes are led into the truck. Barley lets Adam sit down and she protectively stands by him.
From where Barley is standing she sees Bobbin make a run for it, he is quickly caught and hauled back into the truck and the door is shut. Barley then notices an unexpected companion has joined them in the truck, the boy Adam had seen earlier.
All attention falls on the boy, Barley stands even closer to Adam to make sure he's safe. The boy looks around nervously before composing himself.
"Hi"He says.
If Barley wasn't confused as to why the hell he was here, she would laugh at his stupidity.
"What's the matter, pretty boy? You in the wrong cage?"Reaper asks him.
If Barley was being honest with herself Reaper was the most likely going to win because of his tall and intimidating stature.
"No, this cage is delightful"The boy says clearly not being able to read the room.
