THE NEXT MORNING BARLEY WAS all smiles for the first time since the Reaping the Sixteen year old seemed truly happy. The boys watch Barley smiling brightly while wearing Coral's navy jacket.
"What's got you smiling? Why are you wearing Coral's jacket?"Tanner asks with a grin on his face.
Barley just sits down with the Pack minus Coral and Mizzen who have been taken to the bathroom. She looks at them all with a smile. "Can't I just be having a good day?"Barley asks.
"Did the vet give you drugs or something?"Treech asks with a laugh.
"Or did you kiss Coral?"Adam joins in.
The pack watches as Barley's cheeks turn red, confirming that what Adam said is true.
"YOU KISSED CORAL"Adam shouts for all the cage to hear, Barley quickly smacks her hand over his mouth.
"The whole of the Capitol doesn't need to know my love life Adam"Barley scolds her brother.
Adam breaks out into laughter. "You kissed Coral, you did it. I never thought you would"Adam says.
Barley sighs. "Well if you want to get technical, she kissed me"Barley tells the group of boys.
The pack devolves into fits of laughter, if you looked at them you wouldn't think they were gonna die in a few days.
"Wait I still don't understand why you're wearing Coral's Jacket"Tanner questions breaking the laughter.
Barley sighs. "It was cold last night and after using my shirt to try and help Otto, I didn't have anything else and she noticed I was cold so she gave it to me"Barley explains.
"That might be the nicest thing she's ever done"Adam speaks up.
Treech laughs. "You might be right"
The Pack falls into a peaceful silence as Coral and Mizzen return to the Monkey cage none the wiser.
A FEW HOURS LATER Barley and Adam are standing in a classroom at The Academy with their mentors, Barley notices bruises and cuts on the twin mentor faces.
"Are you two, okay that explosion was crazy"Barley asks the twins.
"We're fine just a few cuts and bruises but we'll live"Apollo explains.
The room falls silent for a moment nobody knowing what to say to one another the explosion was supposedly caused by rebels so the divide between Capitol and District had gotten even bigger.
"So, anyway"Apollo starts clearing his throat and breaking the silence. "We need to talk about what we're going to do for your interviews tonight"
