BEING WATCHED WAS NOT fun Barley noticed the way the people of the Capitol were staring at her, it was like they were prized ponies on show and this sent annoyance through Barley's gut.
Barley was sitting on the ground with her legs crossed and her back against a large rock, it wasn't the most comfortable place to sit but what else could she do, Adam was lying on the ground his head in Barley's lap and his body curled up into himself.
Barley was gently stroking her brother's hair in a comforting manner, she looked around at the zoo they had been dumped in, the capitol boy was removed a little while ago and this caused the tension in the caged environment to lessen a little bit.
Some of the tributes must have been feeling brave as they decided to speak to the capitol people and the funny capitol man with the cameras.
"Are you okay?"Barley asks quietly so hopefully only Adam hears her.
"I want to go home"Adam replies quietly as he looks up at his sister.
Barley leans down and places a kiss on Adam's forehead. "You will go home, I promise I'll make it happen"Barley tells him.
Coral and Mizzen soon join them, they sit down on the ground and Mizzen begins to play with the grass, a look of clear annoyance is plastered on Coral's face.
"These people are so stupid"Coral announces to the group with a grumble.
"Why what's wrong?"Barley asks genuinely concerned for her fellow Tribute.
"These people have their heads up their asses, they act so freaking superior"Coral tells the group.
"I'm gonna guess talking to the people went well"Barley said sarcastically.
"Completly"Coral responded in a snarky tone and with a smile.
"I'm surprised their still breathing if they've managed to piss you off this much"Barley quips.
"They should be grateful we're in this cage"Coral responds a look of seriousness across her face
The two then burst out to laughter catching the attention of other Tributes and members of the public, as they were laughing their hands stroked against one another both girls didn't know how to react to this the group fell into silence.
The universe sensing the tension sent a mini salvation in the form of a group of Peacekeepers coming through a door at the back of the zoo.
"Bathroom break time for the tributes from District One to Four let's go!"The main Peacekeeper shouted.
The Tributes from the called-upon District stood up and slowly headed toward the peacekeepers, Coral gave Barley a look that was a mix of confusion and like she wanted to talk about what had just happened.
"Mizzen let's go, we'll see you in a bit"Coral called out to Mizzen before directing her attention to the District Nine Tributes.
"See you in a bit, stay safe"Barley told her honestly hoping Coral listened and they both stayed safe.
The District 4 tributes soon departed with the other tributes to the bathroom. Adam looked up at Barley and noticed the happy look on her face.
"Do you like her?"Adam asked quietly.
Barley stayed silent. Did she like Coral? how could she like someone who might die in a few days? Barley thought to herself.
"I think so but it doesn't mean anything it's not like we can start a relationship"Barley tells her brother.
"Why not?"Adam asked.
"Look at where we are Adam, this isn't a place where love blossoms"Barley tells her younger brother with a sad smile on her face.
"Why should we spend our last days not doing the things we want to if you like her then you should at least try"Adam told her with a smile on his face.
Barley laughed. "When did you become so wise and philosophical huh?"Barley asked.
"The threat of death does weird things to you"Adam says quietly.
Barley took in Adam's words, maybe she should give it a try with Coral the only thing stopping her was did Coral even like her like that?.
Coral was a difficult person to figure out she could be so aggressive one minute and kind and caring the next it was so confusing.
