.DAS HOUSEMRINMOYEE'S P.O.V
"I've been calling you for the past hour! Why haven't you picked up? And where on earth are you?" I demanded, frustration clear in my voice.
"Is the job done?" I asked urgently.
"Not yet," the voice on the other end of the line replied hesitantly.
"Wow, bravo! I'm paying you good money, and you still can't get the job done? Idiot! You have only one month left. Do something, or you're dead. Got it?" I snapped, feeling my patience slip away.
"Mrinmoyee Maa," a soft voice called out, making me jump. It was Mishti.
Quickly composing myself, I turned to her, "Yes, beta, do you need something?"
"Actually, I want to attend Aakriti's wedding," Mishti said, hesitating slightly.
"Go ahead and attend the wedding. When did you start taking permission from me?" I responded, trying to sound casual.
"No, actually the wedding is in Mewar, Rajasthan, and I have to go there. That's why I came here to tell you. Please take care of Dadu and give him his medicine on time," Mishti explained.
I nodded, forcing a smile. "Of course, I'll take care of him. Next time, knock before entering my room, did you get that?"
She nodded and left, closing the door behind her.
Did she hear anything? I wondered, anxiety creeping in.
No, how could she? I hung up the call as soon as she entered, I reassured myself.
But what if she did?
If she did, then I won't spare her, I thought with a smirk, watching her disappearing figure.
"
'Knock before entering my room,'" I mimicked Mrinmoyee Maa under my breath, rolling my eyes.
I don't know what Baba saw in this woman. She's always holed up in her room.
And why did she get scared when I entered? Who was she talking to? Let it be, if I think too much about it, I'll drive myself crazy.
"Dadu!" I called out, running to his room.
"Dadu, Dadu, do you know what? Aakriti is getting married!" I said, twirling around in excitement.
"Okay, okay, Mishti, stop dancing and tell me, when and where is the wedding?" Dadu asked, smiling.
"Rajasthan, Mewar, on the 22nd of February," I answered, beaming.
"You are not going to Rajasthan, Mewar," Dadu said, his smile fading.
"But why, Dadu?" I asked, pouting.
