Nick's POV:

Charlie's been at my place for five hours now. We agreed to spend a whole day studying together, so I offered my place as our study room. He came in his dark blue jumper and skinny jeans. His hair was messy but I think messiness fits his dark curls. They lay nicely above his eyes. For the five hours we've been here, we were studying for two at most. The rest was spent on hanging out and playing Mario Kart. It hasn't been long since what happened with Ben, I understand he needs a break from everything.

"You frickin nerd, your game is over!" I play the controler with my thumbs moving my whole body as I do so.

"You wish", Charlie smirks, his face serious and focused on the game.

It's quite an intense round, I mustn't let him win by any chance! It's not fair that I'm wearing my lucky yellow shirt, but it's not my fault he didn't bring one himself. Hehe, the victory is mine!
Wait... what??

"HA HA, I win again!", Charlie exclaims.

My head drops down to my hands in defeat.
"How do you win every. goddamn. time?!" I cry out into my palms.

"Maybe I'm just better than you", his chin lifts, just like his ego.

I sit straight up: "Maybe you're just a little nerd, that's why!"

"I am not a nerd, you're just a sore looser!"

"Oh yeah? Well how would mister 'Not a nerd' like this?"

I run my hand trough his hair and mess it up completely. He hates people messing with his hair. Atleast that's the case when I do it. His expression changes from smug to an offended one, softening into a wide smile:

"Oh, you're done! You're so done!"

I rush to the other side of the room and hide in the corner. He grabs a pillow and I immediately shield myself with my arms and one leg. The pillow hits the wall right next to me.
"See, you can't even aim, you little nerd!".
The battle has begun. He grabs another one and starts running towards me. He's fast. I avoid his swing and throw myself on the bed, hoping to grab the last pillow. He now has two, and I only have one. Just like in a western movie, he starts walking slowly towards me, his gaze glued to mine. I am kneeling on the bed, my posture straight up and ready for battle: "Bring it on, pretty boy!"
He speeds up to the bed and throws himself right next to me, the whole bed shakes. Pillows are hitting my face, my front and my back. I try to fight back but my own laughter pushes me back on the bed.
He isn't one to give up a battle. He's hitting me with those damn pillows like it's the endgame!

"OKAY, OKAY, MERCY I GIVE UP HAHAHAHAHAH!"

The pillowfight suddenly stops. Charlie is now kneeling above me, holding both pillows in his hands like a red panda pretending to be scary.

"So you admit your defeat?", Charlie raises an eyebrow, full of himself.

My silence raises the tension between us, my anwer breaks it.

"Never!" I swing a pillow at him with the speed of light. Shock throws him back on the bed, but he swiftly gets up and throws himself on me. He starts attacking me with both pillows and I fight back, he can't stop me. Pillows hit my face and I literally cannot breathe of laughter, neither can he.

"ADMIT YOUR DEFEAT!"

"ADMIT YOU'RE A NERD!"

He swings his pillows once more but I catch them before they get to my face. This puts us in a pat situation. Where he is pushing and I am holding him from hitting me, trying to ignore the pressure on my stomach where he sits. Suddenly we stop this push-pull game and a familiar string pull falls between us. As we gaze into one another, we realize something's changed. I glance to the window next to me:

"It's snowing!"

[...]

We come back an hour later. Shivering and cold but happily smiling ear to ear as my mom is hurrying us to come inside. I shake all the snow off my jacket and Nellie follows. Her fur instantly gets fluffy again. She turns to mum happily wagging her tail at her.

"Oh great", mum complains, "now I have two dogs to take care of."

Charlie smiles to himself at her sarcasm. I think he actually sees me as a sort of dog. I don't mind it really, dogs are awesome! I just wonder what dog breed he thinks I would be. Charlie is more like a coala. Yeah, they're adorble. Wait, no! I didn't mean it like that, really! I meant that they look very sweet and so does Charlie. In a manly way. Oh my God.

We take off our shoes and hurry up to my room so we can finally feel our fingers. As I run up the stairs I rub them together and hope they don't fall off, they are freezing cold. When we finally climb upstairs, we starts running to my room like children tired after the play coming to dinner. The doors open rashly making a loud bang sound. As I stand at the entrance, my eyes catch the sight of the radiator. Charlie notices my staring and looks at me before we both run to it. We fight for a spot to warm our back. When we finally push eachother enough so that we both have space, our tired and cold bodies glide down the hot radiator, releasing a refreshing sigh. It's like I've never felt warmth before, this feels amazing! Just warmth comming from the radiator trough my back and spreading across my whole body. Even my fingers get their colour back. The only cold I can feel is Charlie's arm next to me, but that fades away soon. No matter what, it feels nice.
We sit there for some time relaxing without a care in the world, but suddenly darkness creeps inside my room. The cars outside start beeping, Nellie starts barking and I can barely see Charlie anymore. I think he got scared, his arm twitched as soon as the light went off. Darkness has swallowed us. We sit there in silence looking at eachother expectantly. I think Charlie is scared, not sure of what. I think I am too, a strange feeling fills my chest, unfamiliar but not umpleasant.
As we sit there arm to arm in darkness, one question tortures my mind:
