"What's up? Haven't talked to you in a while, Jacob." That wasn't a lie; it had been a week since we had said more than a few words to each other. And those words were all text messages.
"I've...been busy." He ran a hand through his long hair and avoided my eyes.
"Right. Hanging out with your new bestie, Bella, huh?" I said with raised eyebrows, but he didnt answer. "That's it. Choose. Right now, Jake." My voice was getting louder and tears swam in my eyes. Embry was standing next to me now. I had always been closer with him...
"Aiyana, maybe you guys need to talk about this in private," Embry whispered to me.
"No. I want him to tell me the truth."
"Okay, Ana. If that's what you want! I choose Bella. Happy? I might have a chance with her here and I'm not gonna waste it!" His words were cold like ice and stung my heart.
I gasped and looked at him wide eyed. Then I turned and ran, ignoring the calls of my name. I ran to my house and bumped into someone. I looked up and through the tears, I saw my father. He held my shoulders in his big hands and looked down at me.
"Honey, what in the world is going on?"
"Daddy, Jacob d-dumped me!" I cried into his chest and he held me against him. This is what fathers were for; heartbreak.

School became unbearable. I stopped wearing makeup, I wore my hair up, and I didn't care about my clothes. Jake ignored me and when he wasn't doing that, he was talking shit about me, making fun of me
Then Embry stopped hanging out with him altogether and stayed with me during school. Then Jake became a part of that crowd. You know, THE CROWD. Sam Uley had dumped Leah and had his own group outside of school.
Jake, Embry, Jared, and Paul Lahote. Kim, Leah, and Embry were the only ones that stuck by me.
I went through that for weeks until my mother finally said something one night at dinner. She called my aunt Kaya and put her on speaker. Leah was there... After a long talk, we had made the decision. I was moving to California...
My mom and her sister, Kaya, were only half Quileute on their mother's side. Their father was Caucasian. Aunt Kaya picked me up at the airport in L.A. and brought me to her house. It was a new start in a great place. I made friends and forgot all about Jacob Black.
I kept in contact with my friends regularly and I talked to my parents every day. I didn't ask about Jacob or Bella. But the day after I moved, apparently Bella had caught word because she called me. I didn't recognize the number, but I answered anyway.
"Ana? It's Bella." I stayed silent.
"Yes?"
"I heard that you...moved. Why? Are you okay?" She actually sounded concerned as if she hadn't stolen my boyfriend.
"Are you serious right now, Bella?" I scoffed. "Jacob broke up with me. For you. Since you know now, don't call me again." And I hung up. But my newfound bliss wouldn't last forever.
Because a year later, Sam Uley broke my cousin's heart yet again. I needed to go back and pick up the pieces. Back to La Push...
