KAKUYA POV

I'm so glad that nigga Trey is away from me and my babies. For a new change of scenery, I decided that it'd be best for me and the girls to move to New York, specifically in SoHo. DeVante and I are catching up because there are a lot of unresolved issues between us. But I can't really think about him right now. Part of me wants to be with him again, but another part of me can't go back to the past, because the future is so much more important. I work as a photographer/writer for GQ Magazine, and today we're shooting a spread featuring the rapper A$AP Rocky. Now, I've heard a LOT about this guy mostly because Kasem talks her ear off about how "jiggy" he is.

I was sipping a nice chai latte and glancing at a picture of my girls. My babies.  There's nothing I would do for them. Kasem is off to college, and Jagoo is walking around, tearing up every damn thing! I was so caught in the wallet-sized picture that I didn't hear Rocky talking to me at first.

Rocky: What are you looking at, Ma?

I looked up in confusion.

Me: You talking to me?

Rocky: Yeah.

Me: Um, just looking at a picture of my daughters.

Rocky: You look a little young to be having kids.

Me: Haha! I'm only 44.

Rocky looked at the picture and gasped.

Rocky: They take after their Mom, no doubt. How old are they?

Me: Kasem just made 20, and little Jagoo is four.

Rocky: Wow....where's their daddy?

Me: If that were your business, I'd tell you.

I walked off flirtatiously and like a puppy dog, he followed.

Me: Why are you following me, Rakim?

Rocky: Cause I like you. You're jiggy...most definitely.

Me: Jiggy huh? My daughter has that word in her vocabulary thanks to you.

Rocky: Aww c'mon, why you gotta stomp on my heart like that?

Me: Look, would you rather me pee on it? You're 25, I'm 44. We have NO future together. I'm sure you're a very nice man underneath all your jiggy-ness and swagger, but I don't need that in my life....anymore.

Rocky: All of what? Wait a second....

He turned me to face him. I saw compassion and truth in his quiet brown eyes.

Rocky:  I'm a nice guy beneath underneath all this fame and money, believe me. I'm gonna show you...only if you let me take you out to dinner.

I laughed. I wasn't gonna turn down a dinner date. I CAN EAT!!!

Me: Alright.

Rocky: What's your name?

I extended my hand and he shook it.

Me: Kakuya Mandrake. You can call me K.O.

Rocky: Rakim Mayers. Let's have dinner on Saturday, 9pm okay with you?

Me: Yeah. I can do that.

I winked at him and went back to my post for another shot. Rocky was putting in work because I agreed to a date. Haha! This nigga. The 18-year-age gap is lingering, but I hope THIS interaction won't result in a slippery slope.

I can do this...I hope!
