Alpha and Beta stared into me, pouring their hearts out to me as I looked up at them from the ground. My entire body hurt and was steaming. My wolf was weak, too weak to even want to phase. She whined and howled out to ask me to keep her down. I felt awful to force her out like I had been trying to do this for the last hour. 'Please, I need you to try.'
I heard her reply with a low whine but got ready anyway. Alpha put his hands on his shoulders.
"Don't force her too much. Why don't we take a small break and we can maybe try again tomorrow?"
"No, I got this!"
Alpha and Beta stood on the lower steps of the back porch of the pack house as they cringed to see me try so hard. To phase hurts, but with practice and getting used to the dull feeling, as adults you barely feel it. Now, as my wolf came forward and backed away, the dull feeling stayed for longer and longer, making it impossible to withstand. They knew this hurt me and they knew it was taking all of my willpower to do this.
I had been back for a couple of months now. My leg was nearly healed all the way, my shoulder bothered me like a torn muscle, and my body was back to a healthy weight again. I was still small and the weakest I had ever been. That was why I needed my wolf. I needed to have some type of accomplishment.
Ronan wanted me to wait longer, not to push my healing process, and keep me under his constant surveillance. If he needed to do something, he found someone to come take his spot as my protector. Katie and Henry usually took that role. Gabe was happy with his new found mate so when he was here, so was Gus. Everyone was noticing but supportive.
"Ok, last time." Alpha nodded to me.
My lungs filled as I forced my wolf to reveal herself. It was slow, she whined at me again as she took a step back. 'No, get up!'
She grunted and found her motivation as she appeared, fully phasing. With my paws on the ground, I felt better immediately. My wolf huffed and let out a soft howl. It hurt to be like this but it was tolerable. Alpha and Beta cheered for me, phasing themselves and coming over to help me stand. Alpha used his dominance to talk to me. 'Well done, little pup! You're making such an approvement with gaining your strength back, but don't push it ok? Be careful.'
'We're here for you when you're ready to go for a run and start to train your wolf again.' Beta told me while they leaned their shoulders on me to keep me standing.
"Ali! What are you doing?" Ronan yelled at me while running from the back door. He smiled proudly but his eyes were still mad. "I thought we agreed to let you have some more time?"
'I'm ok, I promise.' I huffed and slowly walked behind a tree to phase back. I let myself fall to my hands and knees while trying to catch my breath. It was springtime, so I breathed in the sweet smell of pollen and freshly bloomed flowers. It was interrupted by leather and sea salt as Ronan threw his shirt over me. He also gave me his shorts while picking me up in nothing but his boxers.
Ronan carried me bridal style inside and huffed past his dad and his Beta. They snickered back before running off into the woods behind us.
"What were you thinking?" Ronan was only mad now, no longer proud of my accomplishment.
"What if you got hurt more or opened a wound?"
He pushed the door open with his back into our bedroom. I hadn't really talk about the other night with him yet but I was back to sleeping here. Being near him helped me feel better and sleep better.
Ronan gently placed me to sit towards the middle of the queen-sized bed. He leaned over the edge, his thighs touching the silky black sheets as he held his weight up by putting his hands on either side of my hips and looming over me. He was mad, eyebrows knitted and his entire body flexed.
