Jade POV

March 17th, 2009

I thought about that guy's eyes all day. While I waited tables, on the drive home, and walking up to my apartment door.

I sit on the edge of my bed, fiddling with my fingers, when I hear a light knock on my door. "Come in." I say, knowing it's Ev. She always knocks. How polite. "Wanna go out tonight? Allison and I are going to this club to celebrate her last week working with us. We thought it would be nice if you joined us." She asks.

I think she can see the hesitation on my face. She's always been good at reading my emotions, sometimes I think she may be a witch. "Ummm..." I say quietly. She crosses her arms and frowns. "Come onnn. You need to get out of the house and have fun. It'll get your mind off things." I turn my head to face her. "I do go out!" I respond, smirking. "Yeah, only for work, you never want to go have fun." She whines. I take a second to think. "Okay fine. But can I at least shower first? I smell like the kitchen at work."

"Yay! I'll let Allison know you're coming! We're meeting her there at 9." she says happily as she skips down the hall to get ready. I look down at my phone, 8:17 the clock reads. I guess I should start getting ready.

I stalk off to the bathroom to shower while tying my hair up into a bun, so I don't get it wet. I start the water, making sure it's as hot as it will go. I hop in and let the water hit my skin, washing away the leftover dried blood from my cuts. It stings, but I weirdly don't mind it. I am careful to scrub every inch of my body with my black cherry soap. I raise my head up, and close my eyes, letting the hot water run down my face. I suddenly remember those eyes, it's like they're burned into my brain. They stare blankly into my soul. I turn the water to cold, hoping to wash away the sight of them.

I carefully get out of the shower, making sure to dry my feet before walking back to my room. I'm not sure what to wear, so I pull out a few options, but a ripped up cropped long sleeve shirt catches my eye. I pair it with a black faux leather skirt with fishnet leggings. If I'm going out, I want to look good, especially if there's a chance J will be there. I want him to see me and regret what he did.

I walk back to the bathroom and do my makeup, the same way as this morning, and grab my favorite pair of platform Doc Martens. I call out to Ev that I was ready to go, but I get no answer. I look down to my phone and it's already 8:58. I see a message from Ev, telling me she had already left. Great.

I ask her to send me the address of the club as I walk out the door and hail a taxi. I could definitely drive myself, but I want to drown my feelings with alcohol. I give the driver the address and they drive off.
