His Love

Chapter 9: Gang

The cold night air hits my face as we walk out of the tunnel. The streets are quiet, and the city is dark. 

We get to the car and Ev climbs into the driver's seat. Tom opens up the passenger door, ushering me in. He keeps an eye on our surroundings. He shuts the door and Ev rolls down my window. I'm so embarrassed, I feel my face grow hot again as Tom leans down into the window.

"Get her home safe. I'll stand close by, to make sure no one follows you." He looks down at me as the last sentence leaves his mouth. 

"Don't worry, we'll be careful. We don't live super far." Ev says with a yawn. I nod in agreement. Tom smiles warmly at me, his eyes now soft. "I'll see you around." he says softly.

He walks away from the car, his hands in his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket. I watch him stand against the brick wall across the street, lighting a cigarette. He takes a long drag as he stares at our car. I'm almost sad that he walked away. I kind of felt a sense of safety.

Ev pulls out of the parking lot, keeping an eye on the rear-view mirror. She breaks the silence. "Bill told me and Allison that Tom wants you." She giggles as she speaks. I give her a confused look. "Wants me?" I ask. She keeps her eyes on the road ahead. "Allison thinks you would like it with him...as long as you behave, I guess."

"What is it with that? It's like they're some kind of gang or something." I respond slightly annoyed. 

Ev side eyes me and curling her lip up slightly. "That's cause they kind of are...a gang I mean. One of the most dangerous in the world." She responds. I feel my heart sinks as she explains all of the things they have done.

"Oh...What do you think he would want with me?" I ask in a low voice. She shrugs her shoulders. "I dunno. Bill said that Tom thinks you would make a pretty good rider. I'm not sure why though, I didn't get all of the details." she responds.

 I sigh. "What in the hell even is a rider?" I ask, growing annoyed. She takes a second to respond. "I guess it's someone who just comes along with them to their races. Allison is one and she seems to like it." Ev says with a sigh. "Do you think Allison is moving to be with Bill?" she asks with a smirk. I shrug. "Seems possible."
