Tom POV

April 2nd, 2009

7:00 PM

"Special night?" Jade asks inquisitively. I nod as I play with my lip ring. "It's our first official date." I start. "I wanted it to be special, since I had no idea you like being taken out." I chuckle. Bill had given me the hint the other day when she asked him if I'd ever take her out on a date. I never took her for the kind of girl who likes to go on dates. I guess she was too shy to ask me. My mistake.

The waitress approaches our table and takes our drink order, almost completely ignoring Jade. I can tell she's trying to flirt with me, even though she can definitely tell we're on a date. "I'll have a coke." I tell her coldly. "What would you like my love?" I ask Jade sweetly. The waitress turns her attention to Jade as I glare. "I'll just have water please." she says shyly. The waitress scribbles everything down, clearly flustered and stalks away. I hold Jade's hands across the table, running my thumbs across each of her knuckles.

The waitress quickly comes back with our drinks, rudely ruining the moment. She quickly takes our order for our meal, Jade orders a small salad, and I go for the seared salmon. She scurries off after I glare at her once more.

I take Jade's hands in mine again, shaking slightly. She can tell I'm nervous and she squeezes my hands gently. "So, there's something I want to ask you." I say nervously. She sits up slightly. My hands grip hers tightly as I tremble. I take a deep breath in and slowly exhale. "I was thinking about this a lot for the last few days. And I've been really nervous to ask." I start. She tenses up. "What is it?" she asks, slightly concerned. I smile at her nervously, which eases her tension. "I want to make this official...Will you be my girlfriend?" I ask, my voice shaking slightly. She sighs with relief and blushes intensely. "Yes! I thought you'd never ask!" she says excitedly. Thank. God. My heart rate slows back down, yet my hands are still shaky.

"I got you a little something by the way." I say, pulling a small box from my pocket. Her eyes widen as I set the box in her hands. "What's this?" she asks quietly. I smirk at her. "Open and find out." I respond. My nerves pick back up as she opens the gift. Her eyes glisten as she covers her mouth with her hand. They well up with tears as she pulls the small silver chain out from the box.

Jade POV

Tears form in my eyes as I lift the chain from the black velvet box. I notice a pendant dangling from the middle and hold it in my hand. "Tom's girl." I read out loud as a tear falls down my cheek. Tom nods slowly. "Do you like it?" he asks nervously. I look back down at the necklace and smile widely. "I love it..." I say with a sniffle. Tom stands up and walks over to me. He leans down and kisses me deeply.

"Do you want me to help you put it on?" he asks with a big smile. I nod and pull my hair to the side. His hands softly graze my neck as he clasps the chain together, making me blush. He sits back down, his cheeks still red.

"Now everyone will know who you belong to." He says with a chuckle. I giggle to myself as our overly flirty waitress comes back, rudely setting my salad in front of me. Tom shoots her a disgusted look as she sets his salmon down in front of him gently. She leaves in a hurry as Tom and I enjoy our meals. I think about how kind he's been to me these past two weeks. He treats me like a human being that deserves love. A few more tears roll down my cheeks as I quietly eat my salad. "What's the matter my love?" Tom asks in a soft voice. I wipe my tears away and sniffle. "I've just never been treated so kindly before..." I mumble.

He smiles and takes my hand. "I will always treat you with kindness and respect, baby. I promise you'll get used to it." He looks into my eyes lovingly. I smile back shyly. "Can I tell you something?" I ask as my hands shake slightly. He nods as he takes a bite of mashed potatoes. "I've been waiting for you to make it official for like a week now." I say, giggling. He sets his fork down and sighs with a smirk. "Well, that would have been nice to know, I would have asked sooner if I knew you've been waiting." He chuckles.

We finish up our meals and Tom pays the check, setting cash on the table as we leave. He takes my hand in his and leads me to the car, making sure to shoot our waitress a dirty look as we walk out of the restaurant. He's all mine.
