Chapter 15: Stay

Jade POV

March 19th, 2009

5:12 PM

Tom wipes away my tears. I'm not concerned about my face scarring; I cry out of hatred for Ev and J and because I'm scared. I'm scared of what he's planning on doing with me. With each tear he wiped, more fell from my eyes. I didn't want to be here, but it was better than being at home, at least for right now.

 I drop my face into my hands, sobbing at this point. Tom scoops me up from the counter and carefully carries me back to his bed. He sets me down gently and sits on the floor in front of me.

He looks up. "There's something you aren't telling me, isn't there?" he asks softly. I don't say anything. "Why did you go out drinking by yourself last night?" He asks when I don't respond. I sigh and wipe my tears. "Because my roommate is a fucking bitch who sleeps with her friend's ex-boyfriends." I say in between sniffles. He looks away, as if he's sorry for asking.

 I lower my head. "How did you know where to find me?" I ask quietly. He smirks to himself. "I just wanted to keep an eye on you...There's lots of creeps out there, like the one who hurt you. I need you safe. That's why I brought you here. I'm going to take care of you now."

I look at him with a small frown. "You mean, I can't go back home?" He shakes his head solemnly. "No sweetness, I need you safe. You aren't safe there anymore." He caresses my forearm gently, sending shocks of electricity up my body.

 "But I can take you back to get your things tomorrow morning." A few tears roll down my cheeks as I nod. "Don't you even think about running either." he says with a chuckle. I hadn't thought about that. "What about my job?" I asked, remembering that I had a shift in twenty minutes.

Tom smirks at me. "I had a word with Marco. You don't have to go back there. I know you don't really like your job anyways." I shake my head. "But what about money? I need to pay rent." I say frantically, trying to convince him to let me go home. "Don't worry about that anymore. You'll always be taken care of here. Food, utilities, everything." He says, while standing back up. "You're here to stay."
