Onyx stood in the white cell of the safe house bored out of her mind. She's been pacing back and forth for she doesn't even know how long. She's parched, and nobody has checked in or said anything to her. It's just been her and her thoughts.

And that's a dangerous thing.

Her mind often drifted into uncertain territory when alone. She would start questioning everything, becoming paranoid. Like she is right now.

What if Rigel got hurt? What if Keanu got hurt? What's going on? Why is she here?

Onyx wished she was strong and powerful because at least she wouldn't be squirreled away in a white cell. She'd be out there doing something. She felt pathetic just sitting here waiting for her "knight in shining armor".

She was not putting out a good image for women.

She was part elf and dragon for goodness sake, she should be crushing skulls, and making men bow down at her feet with her beauty and power. She should be radiating fierceness, with a feminine grace.

Instead, she was pacing around a white call biting her nail beds off. Very graceful.

Maybe instead of whining about how powerless I am, I should try to practice my skills.

Onyx walked to the back of the room and sat down cross legged. She closed her eyes and tried to access the power she felt in the garden.

There was nothing.

She emptied her mind and tried again, using every ounce of her concentration.

Still nothing.

Growing frustrated she tried again.

Nada.

Onyx got up exasperated. She was useless. How is she going to save everyone, when she can't access any sort of magic. And her physical set of skills were questionable. She was questionable.

Onyx sighed. The three races were doomed.

As she sat moping in her uselessness, she heard the sound of scuffling outside the door. Perking up in the prospect of having food, she listened intently to see who was coming.

She heard a shout, and the clashing of swords. Oh no.

Getting up, Onyx quickly looked around the cell to see if there was any chance of escaping. There was nothing. The entire room was completely sealed up.

The only way she could get out of this was by using magic. But the issue is she can't.

Growing frustrated, Onyx tried punching the wall to see how sturdy it was. Unfortunately for her knuckles it was rock solid.

She listened again, and heard the clashing had stopped. Footsteps were coming down the hall.

In a last desperate attempt, Onyx tried reaching for her magic. She closed her eyes and focused all her energy into it.

She felt something. It wasn't as strong as it was in the garden, but it was still there. She desperately grasped for it urging it with every fiber of her being to blast open the wall.

The door flung open behind her, and Cassius stood tall and imposing, grinning a menacing smile.

He started walking towards her, and Onyx used her remaining energy to push the magic forward.

She felt a power surge through her, her veins turning a glittering gold. She felt invincible. She swiped her arm sending the elf flying across the room. She used her other arm to blast open the wall, shrapnel flying everywhere.
