Chapter 3 - The lonely goddess

"Thank you for serving our food. Do you mind if we take a picture of you?"

"I don't mind it at all" ngumiti ako sa camera katabi ang isang dalaga. Matapos kaming kuhanan ng litrato ng kaibigan niya ay bumalik na ako sa counter.

I looked around and saw Ms Venus who's busy typing something on her laptop. Today is Sunday kaya wala kaming pasok and since day off ko at wala naman akong magawa sa bahay niyaya ko si Ms Venus dito sa coffee shop kung saan nagtatrabaho si Chander.

I expected this day na magiging maayos at magkakaroon kami ng bond ni Ms Venus but when we arrived there something unexpected happened.

"Welcome to ChiChi's Café" bati nang babaeng nasa counter pagpasok namin sa coffee shop, umupo kami ni Ms Venus sa gilid kung saan may mini sofa.

"Thank you for coming with me. I'll make sure you're not wasting your time with me." Type ko sa phone ko saka pinakita kay Ms Venus.

"Hanging out with you is not a waste of time... I'm glad to be with you." Parang yelo na natunaw ang puso ko. I showed her a smile and she smiled back with her face flushed.

Since I don't drink coffee, I ordered something else for me but a tea and vanilla cake for Ms Venus.

Matapos kong umorder ay may sumunod sa akin na babae, she spoke another language and I noticed how the cashier girl is having a hard time understanding the customer. Tinawag pa niya si Chander pero maging siya ay hindi niya maintindihan.

Lumapit naman ako at kinusa na silang tulungan.

"Guten Tag, gnädige Frau, mein Name ist Hinata. Wie kann ich Ihnen behilflich sein?" ("Good afternoon ma'am, I'm Hinata, how can we help you?") Binati ko yung customer gaya ng lag bati ng cashier kanina sa akin.

"Endlich jemand, der Deutsch spricht... Ich hätte gerne einen Espresso mit zwei Zuckerwürfeln, separat dazu. Außerdem möchte ich ein Stück Schokoladenkuchen mit Vanillesirup und Erdbeeren oben drauf." (Finally, someone who speaks German... I want an espresso with two cubes of sugar and it's separated. I also want a chocolate cake with vanilla syrup and strawberry on the top.)

Sinabi ko naman kay Chander lahat ng sinabi sa akin ng babae, nang makuha na ang order ay nagpasalamat sa akin ang babae saka ay umupo sa isang tabi upang hintayin rin ang order niya.

Babalik na dapat ako sa upuan ko ngunit natigil naman ako nang may dalawang dalaga na lumapit sa akin.

"I didn't know this coffee shop would have a handsome woman staff." She shamelessly flirted with me and she even winked before she ordered something.

"I'm also a customer but thank you for the compliment Ms Stranger." With politeness, bumalik na ako sa upuan ko at pagdating ng order namin ay may binulong pa sa akin si Chander.

"Gusto ka daw kausapin ng boss namin." Medyo kinabahan pa ako ng mga oras na iyon, pumasok ako sa office ng boss nila nang nanginginig ang tuhod sa takot but his words make my breath hitched.

"I would like you to work in this coffee shop of mine... I'd pay you double." At first I was hesitant, I asked Ms Venus if she'd allow me to work here at least on weekends and I suppose the luck is on my side since she agreed.

I thought sa susunod na weekend pa ang simula ko but I didn't really realize na ngayong araw narin pala ang first day ko.

After a few hours of working, It's finally my break time, kaagad akong pumunta sa pwesto ni Ms Venus at kinamusta sya.

"I'm sorry I didn't get to entertain you. I'll make it up to you later."

"It's okay... I'm content watching you working with a smile. But I'm curious... I saw you talking with a foreigner earlier... Do you speak another language?" Tanong niya sa akin, I smiled at her and answered her question.

"Yes yes!! I can speak English, a littleJapanese, Tagalog, German and a little bit of korean."

"That's impressive" Medyo tumaas ang kayabangan ko kaya pinaalam ko na rin sa kanya ang ibang mga language na inaaral ko pa lamang.

"And I'm studying Italian" she showed me a thumbs up and a surprised expression.

Cute...

Should I tell her I'm also learning sign language?
